The third race of the day at the Calcutta Races Monsoon Meeting, the Exception Handicap for horses rated 61-86 (rated 41-66 eligible), over 2000 metres, witnessed a commanding performance by Main Street (J: P. Trevor, T: Arti Doctor) at 2:45 PM on Wednesday, 10th September 2025. Racing in the colours of Mr Kersi H Vachha, Main Street produced a professional display of stamina and timing to cross the finish line in 2:10.070, leaving a strong impression in this competitive handicap.

From the outset, Main Street settled in a prominent position, keeping a watchful eye on the early pace-setters. P. Trevor’s tactical riding ensured that the horse conserved energy along the back straight before unleashing a powerful finishing surge in the final 300 metres. The well-timed move proved decisive, allowing Main Street to pull clear and secure a convincing victory.

Runner-up honours went to Great Guns (J: Vivek G., T: Aashay Doctor), who stayed in contention throughout and finished strongly in 2:10.365, narrowly missing out on the winner. Stormy Ocean (J: Imran Chisty, T: Rutherford Alford) battled gamely to claim third place in 2:12.106, completing a closely fought top-three finish.

Attention now turns to the Calcutta Colts Trial Stakes, the feature race of the day, scheduled for 3:15 PM, which promises an exciting clash of promising colts and top-class trainers aiming for glory.
