In the final showdown of the CHRISTMAS MEETING FIRST DAY at the Calcutta Races on Saturday, 6th December 2025, Race 8 — The Aboline Handicap (Div II) — delivered a gripping finish over 1400 metres. As reflected in the Calcutta Race Results 6 December, the concluding event capped a rich afternoon of fiercely contested races, with Magnifico producing a polished, determined run to seal victory at 4:00 PM. Guided confidently by jockey R. Vaibhav for trainer Aashay Doctor, Magnifico stopped the clock at 1:26.560, scoring for the ownership group of Mrs Pallavi Sharma, Mrs Rina Mahindra, M/s Hyperion Bloodstock Pvt Ltd, Mr Hemang Devendra Doctor, Mr Viral Devkumar Doctor, M/s Deciding Factor LLP & Mr Marthand Singh Mahindra.

Breaking cleanly and settling mid-pack in the early strides, Magnifico travelled comfortably as the field stretched out across the backstretch. Approaching the bend, the gelding inched closer under steady urging, shifting gears as the leaders quickened into the home run. Showing grit and superior rhythm in the final 200 metres, Magnifico swept past the frontrunners in the dying strides, completing a narrow yet assured win in the day’s last race.

Queen of Mafia, partnered by M. S. Deora for trainer B. Mahesh, nearly snatched the victory with a sharp late burst, finishing a whisker behind the winner in 1:26.578. Close behind came Veneno, ridden by Gaurav Singh and trained by B. Rajender Reddy, clocking 1:26.633 after staying well within striking distance throughout the straight.

Earlier in the afternoon, racing enthusiasts were treated to a strong sequence of competitive finishes. Oromelo set the tone in Race 1, The Stringfellows Handicap (1600m, 12:30 PM), with R. Vaibhav guiding the Javed Khan trainee to victory over Dubai Prince and Macchiato. In Race 2, The Aristotle Handicap (2400m, 1:00 PM), Star Studded produced a resolute staying effort under R. Vaibhav for trainer Rajesh Narredu, ahead of Champagnesupernova and Goodwill. The sprinting action intensified in Race 3, The Xisca Handicap Div I (1200m), where Chililady powered home for M.D. Sameer and trainer Shafiq Khan, while Dubai King kept the winning momentum for the same stable in Race 4, The Xisca Handicap Div II (1200m), with a decisive triumph at 2:00 PM.

The Moon Emperor Cup (Race 5, 1200m) saw Pluto deliver a sharp burst under Nikhil Naidu for trainer Deepesh Narredu, before the day’s feature, The Calcutta 2000 Guineas (Race 6, 1600m), crowned Arrived as the emphatic Grade II winner under M. S. Deora for Adhirajsingh Jodha, followed home by Mahler and Superstar.
