The final flourish of the Calcutta Races, Christmas Meeting came in Race 8, THE AVALANCHE STAR CUP, as Resplendence capped the second day with a commanding victory on Saturday, 13th December 2025. Run at 4:00 PM, the Class IV contest for horses rated 21–46 (rated 1–26 eligible) over 1100 metres saw Resplendence (J: Suraj Narredu, T: Rajesh Narredu) deliver a sharp and decisive performance, stopping the clock at 1:05.676 for owners Mr Teja Gollapudi, Mr Daulat Chhabria & Dr Prabhakar Chowdary Tripuraneni. For followers tracking the Calcutta race results 13 December, the finale provided a fitting end to a competitive afternoon at the Royal Calcutta Turf Club.

Breaking smartly from the gates, Resplendence was ridden with confidence, settling prominently before being asked to quicken approaching the final bend. Once set alight in the straight, the gelding responded instantly, stretching clear with a telling burst of speed. Suraj Narredu’s well-judged ride ensured there was no late threat, as the winner crossed the line with authority to bring the day’s proceedings to a close.

Tres Bien (J: MD Sameer, T: Javed Khan) stayed on resolutely to claim second place in 1:07.388, while Desert Charm (J: R Vaibhav, T: Adhirajsingh Jodha) finished close behind in third, clocking 1:07.516, rounding off the placings in the final race of the card.

Earlier in the afternoon, the second day of the Christmas Meeting opened with Race 1, THE MADRAS RACE CLUB CUP (2000m), where Great Guns (J: A Prakash, T: Aashay Doctor) stayed on strongly to land the opener, defeating Third Avenue and Good Deeds.

Race 2, THE HONG KONG JOCKEY CLUB CUP (1200m) went to Cosmology (J: A Prakash, T: P. Shroff), who proved too quick for Argento, with Echoes of Eternity finishing third.

Speed was on display in Race 3, THE POLICE MARTYRS CUP (1100m) as Zalia (J: A Prakash, T: Aashay Doctor) asserted authority late, holding off City of Joy and Winsangel.

In Race 4, THE MOUNTED POLICE CUP (1200m), Light The World (J: Hasib Alam, T: Aashay Doctor) finished powerfully to score, ahead of Into The Storm and Cash Your Luck.

Golden Glow (J: Gaurav Singh, T: B Rajender Reddy) delivered a polished effort to take Race 5, THE POLICE COMMISSIONER’S CUP (1400m), with Bharat and Aeropoli completing the frame.

The day’s marquee contest, Race 6 – THE B M KHAITAN MEMORIAL CALCUTTA GOLD CUP (Grade II, 1600m), belonged to Golden Kingdom (J: M S Deora, T: Adhirajsingh Jodha), who confirmed class and consistency, beating Dubai Princess and Duke of Tuscany.

Momentum carried into Race 7, THE IVANOE CUP (1200m), where Victoria Cross (J: Vishal N Bunde, T: Neil Darashah) emerged on top after a sharp sprint finish, with Abhicandra and Dragon’s Gold chasing home.

With Resplendence providing the closing highlight, Day Two of the Christmas Meeting delivered competitive racing across the card, reinforcing the festive fixture’s status as one of the season’s most engaging programmes at the Royal Calcutta Turf Club.
