The Royal Calcutta Turf Club (RCTC) witnessed an action-packed opening day of the Calcutta Monsoon Meeting 2026 on Thursday, 6th August 2026, as four more exciting contests unfolded from the afternoon programme. In another memorable Calcutta race result 6th August, winners TIMELESS FORTUNE, SULTANA, ROCK BANK, and UPPER STREET delivered impressive performances across Classes III, IV and I, adding further excitement to the season’s opening fixture.
The 4th Race, The Sweet Senorita Handicap, a Class III event for horses rated 41-66 (rated 21-46 eligible) over 1100 metres, produced an impressive sprint victory for TIMELESS FORTUNE.
Owned by Mr Rajesh Monga, Mr Manav Monga, Mr Jatin L Trivedi & Mr Nitin H Jain rep J N Racing & Breeders LLP, Mrs B E Saldanha & Ms Manjri Horse Breeders’ Farm Pvt Ltd, the Deepesh Narredu-trained runner was given a confident ride by Yash Narredu, stopping the clock in 1:06.869 after travelling strongly and quickening clear inside the final furlong.
DONA SIENNA finished second for jockey Vivek G. and trainer Bharath Singh in 1:07.311, while SEA EAGLE, ridden by Vishal N Bunde and trained by Neil Darashah, completed the placings in 1:07.834.
The afternoon continued with the 5th Race – The Adriana Plate, a Class IV contest for three-year-old horses rated 21-46 (rated 1-26 eligible) over 1400 metres.
SULTANA, representing owner Dr Ram H Shroff & Mr Raj H Shroff rep Ms Stride Livestock Pvt Ltd, justified the confidence of connections with a determined victory. Trained by Shyam S Habbu and partnered by Vishal N Bunde, the winner travelled comfortably before asserting late to score in 1:28.468.
Runner-up honours went to MUKESHIAR, ridden by Akshay Kumar for trainer Vijay Singh, who clocked 1:29.029, while SEONA, under Vivek G. for trainer Neil Darashah, finished third in 1:29.365.
The quality of racing stepped up in the 6th Race – The Malpensa Cup, a prestigious Class I event for horses rated 81 and above (rated 61-86 eligible) over 1400 metres.
ROCK BANK produced a polished display for owners Mr Sumant Dalmiya, Mr Jayanti Prasad Khaitan, Mr Soumendra Nath Mookherjee, Mr Manoj Pasari, Mr Anirudha Ghosh, Mr Ratnanko Banerji & Mr Hemang Devendra Doctor. Trained by Arti Doctor, the classy runner was expertly handled by R Vaibhav, who timed his challenge perfectly to register victory in 1:26.465.
KING LOUIS, ridden by Vivek G. for trainer Neil Darashah, chased home the winner in 1:26.890, while PANTAZI, another representative from the Arti Doctor stable, finished third under P. Trevor in 1:26.956.
The day’s racing concluded with the 7th Race – The Reliable Handicap, a Class IV contest for horses rated 21-46 (rated 1-26 eligible) over 1400 metres.
UPPER STREET, owned by Mr Kersi H Vachha, provided trainer Arti Doctor with another success on the card. Ridden patiently by P. Trevor, the winner produced a strong finishing effort to score comfortably in 1:27.576.
LADY DON, partnered by Nikhil Naidu for trainer Ritesh E K, finished second in 1:28.692, while GOODWILL, ridden by Vishal N Bunde and trained by Neil Darashah, filled the third position in 1:28.762.
