The Royal Calcutta Turf Club (RCTC) continued the opening day of the Calcutta Monsoon Meeting 2026 on Thursday, 6th August 2026, with the 3rd Race – The Antonique Handicap Div II, a Class IV contest for horses rated 21-46 (rated 1-26 eligible) over 1100 metres, run at 3:00 PM. In another noteworthy Calcutta race result 6th August, LARA produced a determined performance under Arshad Alam to score for trainer Neil Darashah, stopping the clock in 1:07.711. The winner carried the colours of Mr Bhavesh Mansukhlal Nandani, adding another success to the opening afternoon of the meeting.
Breaking alertly and travelling comfortably through the early stages, LARA settled into a favourable rhythm before quickening decisively inside the final furlong. Arshad Alam judged the pace to perfection, asking the mare for her effort at the right moment as she responded willingly to pull clear and secure a well-deserved victory for the Neil Darashah stable.
LIVE IT LOVE IT finished second in 1:07.914, with P. Trevor in the saddle for trainer Arti Doctor, keeping the winner honest throughout the closing stages. TYCOONIST stayed on to finish third in 1:08.484 under Vinit Chavan for trainer Vikash Jaiswal, completing the placings after another closely contested sprint.
With three races completed on the opening day, attention now shifts to the 3:30 PM contest, The Sweet Senorita Handicap, as the Calcutta Monsoon Meeting 2026 continues to gather momentum at the Royal Calcutta Turf Club.
