Race 4 on the Thursday card at the Calcutta Races Christmas Meeting (Extra Day) delivered a sharp, high-class contest as Black Eagle landed The Star Superior Cup, a Class I event for horses rated 81 and above (61–86 eligible), run over 1200 metres at 3:00 PM on 18 December 2025. In what will feature prominently in the Calcutta race result 18 December, Black Eagle produced a decisive performance for owner Mr Faiz Adam, stopping the clock at 1:11.407 under a confident ride from Prashanth Thapa, and trained by B Rajender Reddy.
From the outset, the pace was honest, with the field lining up keenly for the sprint. Black Eagle travelled smoothly through the early exchanges, always well within striking distance. Turning for home, Thapa asked his mount to lengthen, and the response was immediate. Showing superior acceleration and control, Black Eagle surged clear in the final furlong, asserting authority over his rivals to score with something in hand.
Pluto finished second after a determined effort, with Vishal N Bunde aboard for trainer Deepesh Narredu, clocking 1:12.205. Close behind, Raffaello stayed on strongly to secure third place in 1:12.250, ridden by R Vaibhav and prepared by Aashay Doctor, ensuring a competitive finish behind the winner.
With The Star Superior Cup decided, attention now turns to the next contest on the card, The Miss X O Lence Handicap, scheduled for 3:30 PM, as the festive racing action continues at Calcutta Racecourse.
