Bezawada Sultan wins Leading Owner Cup at Bangalore Turf Club
The Leading Owner Cup, run over 1200 meters, had a handicap field of horses rated 40 to 65, with ₹6,30,000 on the line. As the second-last race on Day 24 of the Bangalore Summer Meeting, the contest delivered a thrilling finish under the setting sun.
Bezawada Sultan stormed home to claim the title, handled confidently by J. Chinoy for trainer Joseph B. Awale. The winner, timed at 1:13.07 to clench the winner tag. The horse is owned by Mr. Mohammad Abdul Raheem, and his connection will be pleased with the classy effort put up in a fast-run sprint.
Chasing hard and settling for second was Aherne, piloted by Antony Raj S. for trainer Imtiaz Khan, finishing in 1:13.15. Wellington, with P. Trevor astride for S. Inayathulla, secured third spot in 1:13.24, rounding off the top trio in what proved to be a well-contested race.
