Set on the picturesque Burswood Peninsula in Western Australia, the BELMONT PARK RACECOURSE once again delivered a lively midweek program on Wednesday, October 29th, featuring seven competitive races from 11:09am to 2:48pm. With Perth’s winter-season racing behind and the spring campaign gaining momentum, today’s meeting offered a mix of emerging three-year-olds, seasoned campaigners and those aiming to break through. The track’s riverside setting, fair surface and good crowd atmosphere combined to give the event both style and substance.
Race 1: TABTOUCH – HAVE YOU GOT THE TOUCH HANDICAP (11:09am, 1200 meters)
INTOXICATING took the opener in 01:11.50, under a confident ride by jockey WILLIAM PIKE. Trainer SIMON A MILLER had the horse well primed, breeder NOOR ELAINE FARM saw their stock rewarded, and owners MR S A MILLER, MR I J LONIE, MR A J L DURNIN, MR N MCSTAY, MR N K CHEUNG, MR Z HATHERLEY, MR A P NEWMAN, MRS R NEWMAN, MR N I CANN, MR S LITTON, MR J B SINAGRA, RAAW RACING PTY LTD, MR M J FULLER, THE SALTY PUNTERS, DURNA RACING and DIRTMAN RACING enjoyed the first winner of the day. DOMINANT FORCE ran on strongly for second, while HASANI held on for a resolute third.
Race 2: LOOP HANDICAP (11:56am, 1200 meters)
The second contest saw CRYPTIC JOY deliver a polished finish in 01:11.68. With jockey CLINT JOHNSTON-PORTER timing the run perfectly and trainer SIMON A MILLER’s preparation showing its worth, breeder MR P A IBBOTSON and owners NEVER EVER EVER, MR C A LANE, MR B J JARDINE, MR D J GARDINER, MR W J GROTH, MR M J CARLSON, MR D R KIDSON, MR J K NORRISH, MR B J ZAHRA, COLLINGWOOD CREW, MR S J PHILIPPE, MR J B PHILIPPE and MR G W C HOUSE shared the moment. SUPIDO EXPRESS stayed on under pressure for second, and BOUSSAC secured third with a strong closing effort.
Race 3: MCA POLYTRACK HANDICAP (12:27pm, 1000 meters)
In race three, LONG SERVICE LEAF took command to win in 00:58.43, guided by jockey CHRIS PARNHAM who delivered a tactically excellent ride. Trainer NEVILLE PARNHAM had the charge in fine fettle, breeder MRS S L CAMPBELL celebrated a job well done, and owners MR N D PARNHAM, MRS C A PARNHAM and MS K A MCNAUGHT enjoyed the success. CALL OF DUTY provided a persistent chase, while COONDLE ran on well for the placing.
Race 4: DRUMMOND GOLF MAIDEN (12:57pm, 1200 meters)
The mid-program contest brought quality as MAALIS SONG crossed first in 01:12.25. With jockey LAQDAR RAMOLY’s cool finish and trainer MERYL HAYLEY’s measured preparation, success followed. Breeder MISS M HAYLEY saw their line pay off, and owners MR J L DAVIES, MS D L GIBLETT, MR J STOPS, MR J J C DOW and MR P J BLOXSIDGE was rewarded. WESTERN JET kept in touch all the way, and ROCKING IN VEGAS claimed third with solid effort.
Race 5: SCHWEPPES HANDICAP (1:35pm, 1650 meters)
Race five featured a deeper challenge, and SUMMER’S LEGACY emerged victorious in 01:41.93. Jockey WILLIAM PIKE exhibited patience and timing, trainer GRANT & ALANA WILLIAMS’s planning came off, breeder MR E VAN HEEMST took pride, and owners LYNWARD PARK STUD, MRS M E VAN HEEMST, MR T VAN HEEMST, and MR C VAN HEEMST shared the delight. SHAULA pressed until the line, while I’M CRAFTY held on for third.
Race 6: GLENROY CHAFF HANDICAP (2:11pm, 2100 meters)
As the card neared its end, DANDY’S GEM delivered a strong closing run to win in 02:12.39. Jockey LAQDAR RAMOLY managed the race with composure, trainer EMBROJA-LEE ALTIERI had the horse right on point, breeder COURTLAND PARK STUD saw return, and owners MR A J COCKBURN, MRS K E COCKBURN, MR J B STAWELL, MR B G HARDIE, MRS D Y HARDIE and BRIDGE PATROL LODGE celebrated. STARTLING STAR continued to chase hard for second, and HEAPS OF MOOLAH kept going well for the minor placing.
Race 7: MORLEY GROWERS MARKET HANDICAP (2:48pm, 1400 meters)
The final race wrapped the afternoon with flair as MIA GUSTO surged home in 01:24.28. With jockey HOLLY NOTTLE delivering under pressure, trainer GREG KERSLEY’s work proved worth it, breeder TAUNTON VALE added another winner and owners MR J GIARDINA and MR R S BELL enjoyed the perfect end to the meeting. RAINLINE ran bravely for second, while SECRET IDENTITY completed the top three with credit.
