Excitement continued to build at Pune Racecourse as the fourth race of the afternoon, The Season Opener Plate Division I, unfolded over 1000 metres. A class IV handicap for Indian horses rated 20 to 46, the contest was flagged off at 2:30 pm and brought another thrilling finish to the opening day’s action.
Bee Magical, trained by Imtiaz A. Sait and ridden by Neeraj Rawal, justified the status of tote-favourite with a strong performance, stopping the clock at 0:58.731. The winner is the property of Equus Racing and Mr Mukul Sonawala.
Close behind in second was Zephyr, guided by Yash Narredu for trainer M. Narredu, who produced a well-timed run to finish in 0:59.045, staying within striking distance throughout the trip.
Mojo, trained by Faisal A. Abbas and partnered by Amyn Merchant, completed the top three in 0:59.061.
As competitive racing continues to mark the early stages of the new season, attention now turns to The Elegance Plate Division I, the next race on the card.
