The Five Stars Shipping Million, the second feature on Day 18 of the Bangalore Summer Meeting, saw Baychimo come good in style to land the 1600-meter terms race for maiden 3-year-olds in 1:38.05. Held at 3:25 pm with a rich purse of ₹22,50,000, the contest produced a dominant finish from the Adhiraj Singh Jodha’s yard, which saddled the first two past the post.
Ridden by A. Prakash, Baychimo brought glory to his connections, Diamond Band Rac. Syn. Pvt Ltd rep. by Mr Shiven Surendranath, Mr Kersi H. Vachha, Bachhawat Farms Pvt Ltd., rep. by Mr Vikram Bachhawat, Dr Syed Ainuddin Arif.
Finishing second was Arrived, also trained by Adhiraj Singh Jodha and piloted by S. Saqlain in 1:38.11. The runner-up is the property of Gainsville Stud & Agrl. Farm Pvt Ltd., Bachhawat Farms Pvt Ltd., Mr. Haider Soomar & Mr. Kishore Rungta & So Blest Trading Co. Pvt Ltd & Mr Mukul A. Sonawala & Mr Saleem Fazelbhoy & M/S. Phantom Racing LLP & Ms Ameeta Mehra & Mr Ajay K. Arora. Despite showing a strong finishing effort, Arrived couldn’t reel in Baychimo but made it a rewarding 1-2 for the stable.
The third spot went to Knight Regent, guided by Y. S. Srinath in 1:38:18 for trainer Deshmukh L. V. R. and owner Mr C. Aryama Sundaram. Schoenberg the tote-favourite came fifth.
With the Five Stars Shipping Million wrapped up and trainer Adhiraj Singh Jodha celebrating a memorable double, attention now turns to the highlight of the afternoon, the Zavaray S. Poonawalla Bangalore Summer Derby (Grade I), scheduled for 4:00 pm.
