The influence of Banker’s Stable continues to grow in Malaysian racing, with the operation’s expanding line-up of horses showing impressive depth and consistency. Just days after Banker’s Kingdom secured another notable victory on June 21 ahead of a trip to the Selangor Mile, the stable made its presence felt again during the Sungai Besi barrier trials.

The latest trials highlighted the strength of the team’s new arrivals, with Banker’s Angel and Banker’s Bonus leading the final two sessions. Banker’s Dividend-Action Banker’s also played a strong role, finishing second and third behind Ye Man in the opening trial. The performance suggested the stable could have enjoyed an even stronger showing with a different race finish.

Banker’s Stable results have continued to attract attention as the team develops a growing collection of talented runners under experienced guidance.

The four horses are trained by Johnny Lim, who plans to send Banker’s Angel and Banker’s Bonus into the Restricted Maiden over 1,200 metres on June 28.

Lim believes the newcomers have the ability to make an immediate impact, despite the challenges faced by first-time starters.

“It’s hard for babies to win maidens first-up, but they’re educated and have gate speed,” Lim said.

The rapid progress of Banker’s Stable has not happened overnight. The operation’s journey into ownership began with patience and long-term planning rather than instant success.

The owners, who were previously involved with horses under Leslie Khoo, decided to support Lim when he applied for his training licence in Singapore. After racing activities there ended, they continued their commitment by moving their horses to Malaysia.

When the distinctive Banker’s horses first appeared on Malaysian racecards in May 2025, they were still building their reputation. However, the breakthrough arrived later that year when Banker’s Eightyone and Banker’s Princess recorded their first victories on September 14.

From that point, momentum quickly built. Lim ended 2025 with 26 winners, doubling his earlier tally, with 10 victories coming from Banker’s runners.

The rise of Banker’s Stable has become one of the notable stories in Malaysian racing, with the team emerging as a major force through a combination of quality horses and careful development.

This season, Lim has remained among the leading trainers, reaching the halfway stage with 37 winners, with a large share of those successes coming from Banker’s runners.

Lim remains cautious about future expectations but believes the stable’s strength gives him confidence.

“It’s too early and it may be tight, but I’ve got a bit of an edge with the Banker’s horses even if they have not been fully pushed,” he said.

The success has also extended to trainer Tiang Kim Choi, whose team includes several Banker’s Stable horses. Seven of his 17 winners this season have come from his 17 Banker’s representatives.

Although a Group 1 victory is still missing, Banker’s Two Six has already achieved major success by winning the Chairman’s Trophy over 1,600 metres and the Chinese New Year Prosperity Trophy over the same distance in 2026.

Banker’s Two Six also came close at the highest level after finishing second in the Group 1 Piala Emas Sultan Selangor, underlining the growing quality within the stable.

Banker’s Stable continues to strengthen its position in Malaysian racing, with established performers and promising newcomers pointing towards an exciting future.
