The opening race at 2:15 PM, the Weatherbys nhstallions.co.uk EBF Junior National Hunt Hurdle over 2 miles and 177 yards, saw Planters Punch make a winning debut under Nico de Boinville. The youngster travelled smoothly from the outset and showed a sharp turn of foot after the final hurdle, pulling clear to register an impressive victory. It was a performance that suggested plenty of potential for future outings.
At 2:45 PM, the Xenon Workplace Handicap Hurdle over nearly three miles tested endurance. Coumeenoole (IRE), ridden by Harry Skelton, was held up early before gradually improving position. Producing a strong late run, he stayed on powerfully to take control in the closing stages, showcasing his stamina and determination.
The 3:15 PM Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle over 2 miles and 177 yards featured a solid performance from Halftheworldaway (IRE). Travelling strongly throughout, he moved into the lead after the penultimate fence and maintained his advantage to the line with authority.
The 4:20 PM Uncommon Practice Handicap Steeple Chase over 3 miles and 78 yards turned into a true stamina test. Three Zambezi’s (IRE) rose to the challenge, staying on best in the closing stages. After a steady early pace, the race developed into a demanding finish, where the winner’s endurance proved decisive.
The final race at 4:50 PM, the Tom Jones Live at Chester Racecourse Mares Handicap Hurdle over 2 miles 3 furlongs and 155 yards, saw Service Minimum (FR) complete a strong day for Harry Skelton. Positioned close to the pace, she travelled comfortably and quickened after the last hurdle to secure a convincing win.
