Bangalore Races: Uchchaihshravas sprints to victory in the Mumbai Cup

Uchchaihshravas surges ahead under Neeraj Rawal to narrowly defeat Credence and Imperial Blue in the Mumbai Cup at Bangalore Turf Club.

The third race on Day 18 of the Bangalore Summer Meeting delivered an exhilarating contest as Uchchaihshravas blazed home to win the Mumbai Cup, a 1200-meter handicap for horses rated 80 and above. The race, held at 2:15 pm, carried a handsome prize purse of ₹11,00,000 and saw a tight finish among the top three.

Ridden confidently by Neeraj Rawal and trained by Neelesh N Rawal, Uchchaihshravas crossed the line in 1:12.17, showcasing a strong burst in the final strides to earn a decisive win. Representing owners Mr Vara Prasad Reddy and Mr A. C. Subbaiah, the winner continued in a solid summer form and delivered on expectations in style.

Finishing second was Credence, guided by Ramswarup for trainer Shazaan Shah, running in the silks of J. M. Livestock Pvt Ltd., represented by Mr Jaydev M. Mody. Despite clocking 1:12.26, Credence couldn’t match the winner’s finishing speed but ran a game race to secure the runner-up berth.

Completing the top three was Imperial Blue, who produced a sharp effort under Pavan for trainer Irfan Ghatala and owner M/s Arun Alagappan Racing LLP. The gelding missed second by the narrowest of margins, finishing in 1:12.27, just a nose behind Credence.

The tote-favourite, Masato came fifth. With the Mumbai Cup now decided, the stage is set for the day’s first feature event, the Amokbash B. T. C. Anniversary Cup (Grade II), for four years old and over, scheduled at 2:50 pm.
