The fifth race of the day at Bangalore Turf Club, The Managing Committee Gold Cup, lived up to its billing as one of the marquee events. This 1600-meter handicap for horses rated 80 and above featured a selective field and a handsome purse of ₹11,00,000. Ultimately, it was Mayne Magic who showcased both class and determination to emerge victorious.

Trained by Kishan Thomas K. and guided expertly by Antony Raj S., the gelding delivered a precise run, holding off a late surge to claim the top prize for owners Mr. Eugene Aloysious Mayne and Mrs. Joan Mayne. Clocking 1:38.04, Mayne Magic’s performance was a display of controlled pace and well-timed acceleration.

Breathing down his neck was Champions Way, partnered by Abhishek Mhatre and trained by Satish Narredu. The bay horse came within striking distance in the final stages but narrowly missed out, finishing second in 1:38.17—just a shade behind the winner.

Rounding off the top three was Sativur, trained by Rutherford Alford and piloted by Vivek G. Despite an outside draw, Sativur stayed in contention and crossed the line at 1:38.40, securing a respectable third in a race where fractions made all the difference.

With the Gold Cup now decided in thrilling fashion, the spotlight shifts to the highlight of the day—The Deltin Juvenile Sprinters’ Million. Stay tuned as the excitement continues to build at Bangalore.
