The Bangalore Turf Club (BTC) opened the Bangalore Summer Meeting, 20th day, Sunday, 5th July 2026, with the 1st Race, The Lagarde Plate, a Class II contest for horses rated 60 to 85 over 1200 metres, run at 2:30 PM. N R I ACE, partnered by V.R. Jagadeesh, produced a determined performance to score for trainer Md Sajid Qureshi, stopping the clock in 1:12.36. Racing in the colours of Mr Ravinder Reddy Male, the winner secured a memorable success in a thrilling opening contest. This Bangalore race result 5th July set the tone for an exciting afternoon of racing at the venue.
Breaking smartly from the gates, N R I ACE settled into a handy position before being produced at the right moment in the straight. V.R. Jagadeesh judged the pace to perfection, asking the gelding for his effort inside the final furlong. Responding with determination, N R I ACE held his advantage under sustained pressure to claim victory by the narrowest of margins in an exciting finish.
POWER OF BEAUTY finished a gallant second in 1:12.37, with Arul J H in the saddle for trainer Pradeep Annaiah, missing out by just a fraction at the winning post. CROSSWATER, ridden by Aleemuddin and trained by Arjun Mangalorkar, stayed on well to finish third in 1:12.67, completing a competitive podium in the opening race of the afternoon.
With the curtain-raiser complete, attention now turns to The R. R. Byramji Memorial Plate, scheduled for 3:00 PM, as the Bangalore Summer Meeting continues with another competitive contest.
