The Bangalore Turf Club (BTC) witnessed another eventful afternoon during the 24th day of the Bangalore Summer Meeting on Sunday, 19th July 2026, with the 7th race, The Governor’s Cup, taking centre stage. The 2400-metre contest for horses aged four years and over, run at 4:00 PM, saw Duke of Tuscany produce a polished staying display under Vivek G. to win for champion trainer P. Shroff in 2:33.44. Racing in the colours of Five Stars Shipping Co. Pvt. Ltd. represented by Mr K. N. Dhunjibhoy, Mr Z. K. Dhunjibhoy & Ms. Anosha Meyers, Mr Rama Seshu Eyunni and Miss Anita J. Captain, the winner travelled comfortably before asserting his superiority in the home straight to land one of the afternoon’s feature races. The Bangalore race result 19th July once again showcased quality performances across multiple classes, with the Governor’s Cup standing out as the day’s premier staying event.
Duke of Tuscany settled into a comfortable rhythm during the early stages before Vivek G. produced a perfectly judged ride approaching the final bend. Responding willingly, the seasoned runner lengthened stride inside the final furlong and stayed on strongly to seal victory over the demanding mile-and-a-half trip. Victor Hugo, ridden by Akshay Kumar for trainer Irfan Ghatala, finished second in 2:33.98 after keeping the winner honest throughout, while Moon Star, partnered by Vinod Shinde and trained by Aravind G., completed the placings in 2:34.22.
Earlier in the afternoon, the 5th race, The Amazing Grace Plate DIV I, was contested over 1400 metres at 3:00 PM for Class V horses rated 00 to 25. Lex Luthor produced a determined effort under Antony Raj S. to give trainer Kishan Thomas K. and owner Mr Srinivasa M a well-deserved success. After travelling prominently throughout, Lex Luthor found enough in the closing stages to prevail in 1:29.98, narrowly holding off his challengers in a tightly fought finish. Double Scotch, ridden by Imran Chisty for trainer S. Shoban Babu, finished a close second in 1:30.06, while Friya, partnered by Lave Kumar and trained by Praveen Jesu, claimed third in 1:30.65. The exciting finish set the stage for the afternoon’s next contest, The Raja of Bobbili Memorial Trophy, scheduled for 3:30 PM.
The 6th race, The Raja of Bobbili Memorial Trophy, brought together Class III horses rated 40 to 65 over 1400 metres at 3:30 PM. Aquamatic delivered an impressive performance under Akshay Kumar, giving trainer Azhar Ali another notable success. Representing the ownership of Mr Praveen Kumar N. and Mr Naveen Preben Gowda, Aquamatic travelled fluently before quickening clear in the straight to stop the clock at 1:27.47. Invincible, ridden by P. Kiran Rai for trainer V. Narayana Gowda, chased home the winner in 1:27.73, while Star Comet, under Vinod Shinde for trainer Aravind G., filled third place in 1:27.89 after staying on well over the closing stages. The victory provided Aquamatic with one of the standout performances among the middle-distance contests on the card before attention turned to the prestigious Governor’s Cup.
Following the conclusion of the Governor’s Cup, racing continued with the 8th race, The Flirting Vision Plate DIV II, scheduled for 4:30 PM, as the Bangalore Summer Meeting moved towards its closing stages after another successful day of racing featuring closely contested finishes and quality performances across the programme.
