The Bangalore Turf Club (BTC), produced another exciting chapter during the Bangalore Summer Meeting, 6th day, on Sunday, 17 May 2026, as Iron Mirage stormed to victory in Race No. 4, The War Hammer Million, a 1400-metre contest for three-year-old horses run at 4:30 PM. Trained by Prasanna Kumar and confidently ridden by Akshay Kumar, Iron Mirage clocked 1:24.25 to secure a stylish success for owners Mr Meka Yugandhar, Capt Jamshed J Appoo, Mr K Manoj Kumar & Mr Ashok Ranpise, and Ms DT Racing & Breeding LLP. The performance quickly became one of the standout talking points of the Bangalore race result 17 May.
Iron Mirage travelled strongly through the early stages before Akshay Kumar gradually improved position approaching the final bend. Once balanced in the home straight, the colt responded gamely under pressure and produced a decisive burst inside the final furlong to settle the issue. The winner showed both tactical speed and composure, qualities that proved crucial in a competitive field of improving three-year-olds.
Moonveil finished second after a determined effort under P. Trevor for trainer S.S. Attaollahi, stopping the clock at 1:24.66 while keeping the winner honest throughout the closing stages. Deep Respect, trained by S. Narredu and ridden by Suraj Narredu, stayed on to claim third place in 1:25.70 after making late progress from off the pace.
With The War Hammer Million concluded, attention at Bengaluru now turns to the next event on the card, The Track Lightning Plate at 5:00 PM, where another competitive field is expected to keep the excitement rolling at the summer meeting.
