The scheduled racing programme at Bangalore Turf Club Limited (BTC) on Sunday, 14th June 2026, came to an unexpected halt after stewards decided to abandon the remainder of the day’s races after sixth race, owing to poor visibility and unsafe underfoot conditions. A total of eight races were scheduled between 1:30 PM and 5:00 PM as part of the 14th day of the Bangalore Summer Meeting, but only six races could be completed, with the final two races affected by the abandonment. The Bangalore races cancellation 14th June announcement was issued shortly before the running of the afternoon’s concluding events, prioritising the safety of horses, jockeys, and racing personnel.
The affected contests were the 7th Race, The World Blood Donor Day Plate, a Class III event for horses rated 40 to 65 over 1200 metres, scheduled for 4:30 PM, and the 8th Race, The Richelieu Plate, a Class IV race for horses rated 20 to 45 over 1400 metres, scheduled for 5:00 PM. Neither race was run following the stewards’ assessment of deteriorating track and weather conditions.
According to the official notice issued by the stewards, “Due to poor visibility and underfoot condition not conducive for racing, the Stewards of Bangalore Turf Club Limited have decided to cancel the remainder of the races of today.” The decision was taken after continuous monitoring of conditions on the racecourse, with visibility concerns and the state of the racing surface deemed unsuitable for safe competition.
Attention will now turn to the next scheduled fixtures of the Bangalore Summer Meeting, where racing enthusiasts will be hoping for improved conditions and an uninterrupted programme.
