The six-race programme scheduled at the Bangalore Turf Club (BTC) on Saturday, 9 May, will present a balanced afternoon of sprint and middle-distance contests across multiple racing categories. The fixture will bring together experienced campaigners, progressive handicap performers, and a number of lightly raced three-year-olds across the card, with races programmed from 3:00 PM through to 5:30 PM.
Class I, Class III, Class IV, and maiden company will all feature during the meeting, while several accomplished jockeys including P. Trevor, Pavan, Neeraj Rawal, and Aleemuddin are expected to play leading roles through the afternoon. Competitive sprint contests over 1200 metres, together with a maiden event over 1400 metres, are set to provide variety across the six-race schedule at the Bengaluru venue.
Opening the afternoon programme in competitive fashion, The Chantille Plate will get underway at 3:00 PM as a Class IV contest for horses rated 20 to 45 over 1500 metres. The race will carry total prize money of Rs.5,10,000 and will bring together a well-matched field over the sprint trip. STAR OF INDIA, partnered by Neeraj Rawal, will headline the runners alongside ALAMGIR with Pavan, IL VOLO under Rajesh Kumar M, and THE GOLDEN DREAM ridden by P. Kiran Rai. PLEDGE, ASSURANCES, TURKOMAN, and FIERY LEXI are also expected to feature prominently in the opening race of the afternoon.
Adding further substance to the card, The Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti Trophy will be staged at 3:30 PM over 1300 metres under Class III conditions for horses rated 40 to 65. The contest will offer total prize money of Rs.6,30,000 and is expected to provide a closely matched sprint contest. RODNEY with Pavan aboard, INVINCIBLE under Rajesh Kumar M, and SASSY SARAH partnered by P. Trevor will feature among the principal runners. CIRCLE OF DREAMS ridden by Akshay Kumar, together with THESSALIAN, KISS OF GREY, SPLENDID DREAM, and WAITARA, will complete a balanced and competitive lineup.
Attention will then turn to The Dupont Plate at 4:00 PM over 1200 metres as a Class V event for horses rated 00 to 25. The race will be contested for total stakes of Rs.4,50,000 and will feature one of the largest fields on the programme. HUSANARA with Darshan R.N, ANNABELLE partnered by Aleemuddin, LUCERO under V.R. Jagadeesh, and RAZZMATAZZ ridden by S. Sachin are among the notable runners entered for the sprint. WHITE SECRET, JALWA, WHITNEY, MEGHANN, FEMME FATALE, STRIKING ARROW, PRINCESS JASMINE, and LORVEN’S GLORY are also expected to line up in the sizeable field.
Feature race honours during the afternoon will belong to The Kunigal Stud Trophy at 4:30 PM. The Class I contest for horses rated 80 and above will be run over 1200 metres with total prize money of Rs.11,00,000 on offer, making it the richest race on the programme. RICARDO with Aleemuddin, MANDARINO partnered by Pavan, STAR GLORY under M. Prabhakaran, and KALAMITSI with P. Trevor aboard will headline the high-quality sprint. EXCELLENT LASS and NEVER GIVE IN will also take their places in what is expected to be a compact yet competitive field.
Providing an opportunity for emerging three-year-olds to make their mark, The Dean Stephens Memorial Trophy will be staged at 5:00 PM over 1400 metres for maiden runners. The contest is expected to highlight several developing performers aiming to secure an early career success over the extended trip. ATMAN with Vivek G., BARTOLINO partnered by Pavan, CONQUISTADOR under Darshan R.N, and DUKE OF BUCKINGHAM ridden by R. Vaibhav are expected to attract considerable attention. SIEGE STORM, THE ARCHER, ASHWA NEW YORK, and ROYAL LEGACY are also among the declared runners for the middle-distance contest.
Bringing the meeting to a close, The Azhar Plate will conclude the programme at 5:30 PM over 1200 metres. The Class IV race for horses rated 20 to 45 will offer total prize money of Rs.5,10,000 and will feature another sizeable sprint field to end the afternoon fixture. FINAL CALL with P. Trevor, EBOTSE partnered by Aleemuddin, FLASH under Md Ashraf Reza, and SUPER KIND ridden by Neeraj Rawal are among the principal contenders entered for the closing event. CHISOX, SUNLIT PATH, LG’S STAR, ROADRUNNER, SUPERHERO, and MICHIKO are also expected runners in the final race of the card.
