The Bangalore Turf Club kicked off the 13th day of its Summer Meeting on Saturday, June 28th, 2025, with eight competitive races lined up. The afternoon of racing opened with the Royal Challenge Plate, a 1200-meter handicap for horses rated 00 to 25, aged six years and above. With a total stake of ₹4,50,000 on offer, the race marked a vibrant start to the day’s proceedings.
Baltimore, trained by Azhar Ali and ridden confidently by jockey Asirvatham, delivered a strong performance to secure the win for owner Mr. S. Thiruppathy. The gelding covered the distance in 1:16.42, maintaining composure under pressure to take control in the final stages of the race.
Flamingo Dream, guided by jockey V.R. Jagadeesh for trainer S. Inayathulla, finished a close second with a time of 1:16.55. The runner-up made a late surge but could not get past the leader in the closing strides.
Completing the top three was Raffles, partnered by the experienced P. Trevor and trained by S. Dominic, clocking 1:16.68. Raffles stayed in contention throughout and held off late challengers to secure a solid placing.
The race saw a tightly packed finish with fractions of seconds separating the leading trio, underlining the competitive spirit on display. As the opening contest of the day, it set a lively tone for what promises to be a compelling afternoon of racing.
