Renowned for its well-organised racing calendar and consistently competitive fields, the Bahrain Turf Club (BTC) will stage a comprehensive ten-race fixture on 9 April, presenting a structured evening of racing that will cater to a wide range of distances and race types. The meeting will feature a carefully balanced combination of sprint contests, mile races, and extended staying events, ensuring a varied test for runners across different categories. The programme will commence at 4:00 pm and will continue through to 8:30 pm, with distances ranging from 1000m to 2400m and prize money structured between BHD 1,500 and BHD 3,000.
Opening proceedings in a measured and competitive manner, Race 1 – Al Rouda Cup at 4:00 pm will be run over 1600m for horses aged four years and above, carrying a total prize fund of BHD 1,500. The contest will feature Tuwaisan, Al Saqlawy, Al Shawaf, Musannan, and Obeyan, forming a balanced field over the mile trip. This will be followed by Race 2 – Grnata Real Estate Cup at 4:30 pm, also over 1600m for three-year-olds and upwards, offering BHD 2,000, where Naahy, Anwaar, Ashcombe, WewonitsixTimes, Munawara, Musique De La Nuit, and El Basma will take part.
Maintaining the early rhythm of the programme, Race 3 – Empire Limo Apprentice Cup at 5:00 pm will be contested over 1600m for three-year-olds and above with a prize of BHD 2,000, featuring Hercules, Rider On The Storm, Asaaff, Blues Queen, and Fatal Obsession under apprentice rider conditions. Shortly after, Race 4 – Bas Mile Cup at 5:30 pm will be run over the same distance with an increased purse of BHD 3,000, bringing together Gloriously Sassy, Winforglory, Brooklyn Nine Nine, Mr McCann, and Sky Advocate in what will be a stronger mile contest.
Shifting focus towards speed and sharper contests, Race 5 – Bas Sprint Cup at 6:00 pm will be run over 1200m for three-year-olds and upwards, offering BHD 3,000, with Inveigle, Chimgan, Grand City Hall, Labalaba, Western, and Maystar expected to feature prominently. Race 6 – Empire Limo Cup at 6:30 pm will continue over the same 1200m distance with a prize fund of BHD 2,000, where Ezz AlBahrain, The Boy Wonder, Golden Arrow, Alhadba, and The Ghost Ship will line up.
Bringing intensity through shorter distances, Race 7 – Grnata Cup at 7:00 pm will be the shortest race on the card, run over 1000m for three-year-olds and above with a prize of BHD 2,000. The field will include Alabrar, Rosa Mystica, Smart Craftsman, Almanjoor, Jena, and Mujtahid in a fast-paced contest. This will be followed by Race 8 – Bas Cup at 7:30 pm over 2000m, also for three-year-olds and upwards with BHD 2,000 on offer, where Sinjar, Pisces, Portofino, Scorpius, Aajay, and Pegasus will compete in a middle-distance event.
Gradually progressing into the staying segment of the evening, Race 9 at 8:00 pm will be run over 2200m for three-year-olds and above with a prize of BHD 2,000, featuring King Of The Throne, Shield Wall, Cosmo Goodspeed, Be Lucky My Son, and Tolerance. The meeting will conclude with Race 10 at 8:30 pm over 2400m, again for three-year-olds and upwards with BHD 2,000 in prize money, where Sharid, Fahaal, Carmeleon, Al Nader, Dahis, and Shaheen will contest the longest race of the evening.
