Bahrain calling: The 2025 HRH The Crown Prince’s Cup attracts world class contenders

Anticipation is at its peak for the 2025 His Royal Highness The Crown Prince’s Cup (2000m for 4YO+, Imported, Graded, Class 1 Listed), one of the most eagerly awaited fixtures on Bahrain’s racing calendar. Set to unfold on Friday, 31st January at The Bahrain Turf Club, this prestigious event promises an electrifying display of equine talent. With a total prize fund of USD 150,000, the competition is expected to deliver a fiercely contested battle.

Thirteen entries were received for this high-profile race, out of which seven have made it into the final declarations. The confirmed contenders include Phantom Flight (Jockey – Callum Shepherd, Trainer – George Scott), Passion And Glory (Jockey – Dylan Browne McMonagle, Trainer – Saeed bin Suroor), Sovereign Spirit (Jockey – Soufiane Saadi, Trainer – Jaber Ramadhan), Tawaareq (Jockey – Alberto Sanna, Trainer – Fawzi Nass), Zagato (Jockey – Neil Callan, Trainer – Fawzi Nass), Signalman (Jockey – Husain Makki, Trainer – Fawzi Nass), and Snellen (Jockey – Seamie Heffernan, Trainer – Gavin Cromwell).

Sponsored by Cebarco, the winner of the HRH The Crown Prince’s Cup will take home USD 90,000, while the runner-up will receive USD 30,000. In addition to this, several other prestigious contests, including the Bahrain Derby, the HRH The Crown Prince’s Cup (for locally bred horses, Graded, Class 1, Domestic Grade 1), the Bahrain Jockey Academy Club Cup, and the Bahrain Turf Club Cup, will also take place at Riffa, ensuring a thrilling day of racing action.

Since its inception in the 2021 racing season, the Bahrain Turf Series has swiftly cemented its status as a pivotal platform for high-quality syndicated runners. Running from 20th December 2024 to 7th March 2025, the 2024-25 series boasts high stakes, and an influx of international participants has added an extra layer of competitiveness to Bahrain’s racing landscape. The heightened level of competition not only elevates the event’s profile but also ensures that the horses are primed for even greater challenges on the global stage.
