The Australian Weanling Sale 2026 catalogue has been released, offering a rich and diverse selection that underlines the strength of Australia’s breeding industry and sets the tone for the upcoming sales season.

Scheduled to take place at Riverside on Tuesday, May 5 and Wednesday, May 6, the Australian Weanling Sale 2026 will launch the prestigious Inglis Breeding Stock Sales Series, followed closely by The Chairman’s Sale on the evening of Thursday, May 7. A total of 500 lots have been assembled, featuring progeny by more than 100 stallions, reflecting both depth and quality across the board.

Buyers will find representation from some of the most influential sires in the Southern Hemisphere, including I Am Invincible, Snitzel, Zoustar and Frankel, alongside a host of emerging and proven names such as Home Affairs, Anamoe, Street Boss, Toronado and Harry Angel. The catalogue also showcases progeny by globally recognised stallions like Wootton Bassett, Justify and Ghaiyyath, adding an international dimension to the offering.

A notable highlight of the Australian Weanling Sale 2026 is the first crop of several recently retired racehorses. Among them are Benbatl, Cylinder, Don Corleone, Generation, King’s Gambit, Native Trail, Shinzo and Triple Time, providing buyers with an early opportunity to invest in new bloodlines that could shape the future of racing.

The vendor list is equally impressive, featuring 48 consignors, many of whom represent the backbone of Australian breeding. Leading operations such as Coolmore, Newgate, Widden, Segenhoe, Yarraman, Vinery and Kia Ora headline a strong group, alongside numerous respected farms that continue to contribute significantly to the industry’s depth.

Inglis Bloodstock CEO Sebastian Hutch expressed confidence in the catalogue, noting the continued upward trajectory of the sale in recent years. He pointed to the growing reputation of the weanling market as a reliable platform for a wide range of participants, from enthusiasts to commercial operators.

Graduates of the sale have consistently made their mark on the track, with top-level performers such as Hayasugi and Kimochi among recent success stories. Others, including Straight Charge, Hard Kick, Field Of Play and Cardinal Gem, have further enhanced the sale’s standing as a source of quality racehorses.

Hutch also highlighted several standout lots within the catalogue, including well-related progeny tied to established performers. These include a sibling to Splintex and Invictus Salute, a brother to Bellazaine, and offspring closely related to stakes performers such as Hayasugi and Captured By Love. Such pedigrees are expected to draw strong attention from both domestic and international buyers.

Beyond racetrack success, the sale has long been recognised as an avenue for pinhooking opportunities, with many participants finding success through resale strategies over the years.

Entries for the Australian Weanling Sale 2026 remain open until April 24, allowing for further additions to an already comprehensive catalogue.

All weanlings offered will be eligible for the Inglis Race Series, which includes major incentives such as the Inglis Millennium and other high-value bonus schemes, adding further appeal for prospective buyers.

With its blend of elite bloodlines, emerging sires and strong vendor support, the Australian Weanling Sale 2026 shapes as a key early-season event, promising opportunity and quality in equal measure.
