Armory powers to victory in Bangalore’s Raja of Bobbili Memorial Trophy

Armory, ridden by Angad, crosses the finish line first in Bangalore’s Raja of Bobbili Memorial Trophy, ahead of Prime Abbess and The Strikingly in the 1400-meter handicap for horses aged 6 and up.

The focus shifted to the older brigade in the fifth race of day 20 at the Bangalore Summer Meeting 2025, as a competitive field of seasoned runners lined up for The Raja of Bobbili Memorial Trophy. This 1400-meter handicap for horses aged 6 years and above, rated 40 to 65, offered a total prize purse of ₹6,30,000, drawing some of the more experienced contenders on the circuit.

Armory, trained by Narayana Gowda V. and confidently ridden by Angad, proved far superior in the final stretch. Displaying determination and a strong finish, the winner surged ahead to land the spoils in convincing fashion in 1:31.01. The winner is owned by Mr. Reethan B K, who will be delighted by the performance of his seasoned charge.

Chasing in second was Prime Abbess, trained by S. Padmanabhan and ridden by Neeraj Rawal, who made a spirited attempt in 1:31.46 but couldn’t match the winner’s late acceleration.

The Strikingly, guided by K. Sai Kiran for trainer Joseph B. Awale, rounded off the top three in 1:32.29 with a resolute effort in testing company.

With this race wrapped up, all eyes now turn to the afternoon’s showpiece event, The Bangalore St. Leger, which promises to deliver a classic clash to close out the day’s marquee races.
