The roar of the Gulfstream Park crowd is set to greet a familiar name this Saturday as And One More Time makes her eagerly anticipated return in the $125,000 Tropical Park Oaks. After more than a year away from the races, the Live Oak Plantation star, whose juvenile career ended in back-to-back stakes victories, is stepping back into stakes company against her own age group, promising a dramatic showcase of talent and determination.
The 31st running of the Tropical Park Oaks for 3-year-old fillies headlines an 11-race card alongside the 50th renewal of the Tropical Park Derby, both contested over 1 1/16 miles on Gulfstream’s turf course. First post is 12:20 p.m., with stakes fans eager to witness the next chapter of And One More Time’s comeback.
Trained by Hall of Famer Mark Casse, And One More Time lit up the juvenile scene with a 4¾-length maiden win at Saratoga, followed by a surprise one-length triumph in the Grade 1 Natalma at Woodbine. In that Natalma, she outpaced future stars Vixen and Nitrogen, who have since gone on to Grade 1 and graded-stakes success in North America.
“She’s a really good horse,” Casse said. “When she won the Natalma, she beat Nitrogen and Vixen, and little did we know how good those two would go on to be. We really took our time with her after her injury, and she came back and rewarded us with a nice win in her first start back.”
In her September comeback against older foes, And One More Time did not disappoint, edging out Shotgun Wedding in a determined half-length victory in an optional claiming allowance. Drawn in Post 3 in an overflow field of 14, she is the 5-1 third choice on the morning line with Hall of Fame rider Javier Castellano aboard.
Casse will also saddle Souper Zonda, who broke from Post 8 with Miguel Vasquez up. Though less accomplished than her stablemate, Souper Zonda has shown promise with two wins on turf in 2025 and will get her chance to prove herself against top 3-year-olds. “Her first race back this year at Woodbine was very impressive,” Casse noted. “She’s two-for-two on the grass, and we’ll give her this opportunity.”
Live Oak’s representation continues with Mischief in Motion and Souper Williwaw, both trained by Michael Trombetta. Mischief in Motion has been flourishing on turf with two wins and a second in four starts since the summer, while Souper Williwaw arrives off a pair of wins over older horses, showcasing the grit and speed that could surprise the favorites.
The program favorite is Destino d’Oro, a late-running filly trained by Brad Cox, dropping in class following attempts at graded-stakes glory. Other entrants include Supa Speed, Nosleeptilbrooklyn, Smart Union, Crafty Collector, Ramsey Pond, and It Ain’t Two, rounding out a competitive and wide-open field.
As anticipation builds for post time, the Gulfstream Park turf promises a thrilling test for these 3-year-old fillies, with And One More Time aiming to reaffirm her elite status in a storied event that has seen countless future stars pass through its gates.
