The opening contest of the day, Race 1 — The Regal Connection Handicap, a Class V event for horses rated 1-26 over 1200 metres, set the tone for a thrilling Sunday at the Calcutta Races, Autumn Meeting, 16th November 2025. Amalfitana (Jockey: Gaurav Singh) produced an authoritative performance for trainer B Rajender Reddy and owner Mr Praveen Kumar Katakam, stopping the clock at 1:15.219 to secure a stylish victory in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
Breaking smoothly from the gates, Amalfitana settled just off the early pace before unleashing a well-timed burst in the final 200 metres. Displaying both composure and acceleration, the mare edged past the leaders with ease, leaving little doubt about the outcome as she crossed the finish line in impressive fashion.
The runner-up position went to N R I Fantasy (Jockey: Nikhil Naidu, Trainer: Sabeel Shariff), who finished strongly in 1:15.524, keeping pressure on the winner for much of the stretch. Godsend Divine (Jockey: Mustakim Alam, Trainer: Rutherford Alford) claimed third, posting 1:15.825, rounding out a tightly contested podium.
With the first race concluded, all eyes now turn to The Right Ahead Handicap, scheduled for 01:30 PM, promising another exciting contest in the early stages of the Calcutta Autumn Meeting.
