All Eyes on BTC: Brig RCR Hill Memorial Trophy Highlights Saturday Races

The Bangalore Turf Club will host the seventh day of its Summer Meeting on Saturday, 7 June 2025, featuring a seven-race card from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Among the highlights is the Brig. R.C.R. Hill Memorial Trophy, a competitive handicap for horses rated 40 to 65 over 1800 meters. With a mix of maiden races and handicaps across various ratings, the day’s schedule includes a strong line-up of runners from leading stables, making for a well-rounded and engaging afternoon of racing.

The day’s opener is The Santorini Star Plate, a handicap race restricted to horses rated 00 to 25. Scheduled at 2:00 PM, this 1400-meter race prohibits the use of whips, ensuring a test of genuine ability and strategy. The top five entries include MASTER WAY (Jockey: P. Sai Kumar, Trainer: Umar Shariff S), PRINCESS JASMINE (Suhas K, V. Lokanath), STRIKING EYES (Koshi Kumar, V. Lokanath), PETTES LOVE (Md. Akram, Joseph B. Awale), and SOUTHERNARISTOCRAT (Ganesh Shingade, Kishan Thomas K). The race carries a total prize purse of ₹4,50,000.

The second race, The Ascot Plate, is a maiden event for three-year-olds and will be contested over 1400 meters at 2:30 PM. This race offers an impressive prize purse of ₹11,00,000. The featured runners include LA QUINTA (Kuldeep Singh, L. D’Silva), MACHIAVELLIAN (A. Prakash, Adhiraj Singh Jodha), STALINGRAD (Arvind Kumar N, Irfan Ghatala), ZEPPELIN (R. Vaibhav, Irfan Ghatala), and BLUE PICASSO (Arul J.H, Darius R. Byramji).

At 3:00 PM, the third race of the day, The Rare Gem Plate (Div II), will be run over 1200 meters for horses rated 20 to 45. It offers a prize of ₹5,10,000. The top five contenders are QUEBEC (Darshan N, Prasanna Kumar), FEMME FATALE (A.R. Pradeep, M. Rajendra Singh), DARRION (Vivek G, Pradeep Annaiah), GLORIOUS SPECTRE (R. Robert, Neil B Devaney), and GREY IMPACT (R. Ajinkya, V. Lokanath).

The feature race at 3:30 PM is the Brig. R.C.R. Hill Memorial Trophy, run over 1800 meters for horses rated 40 to 65. The ₹6,30,000 prize purse has drawn an elite field: ELPENOR (Shreyas Singh S, S.S. Attaollahi), SCARLETTE LADY (Akshay Kumar, Prasanna Kumar), VIVALDI (Hindu Singh, Vijay Singh), MYSTICAL AIR (Darshan R.N, S.S. Attaollahi), and FREEDOM TOUCH (Ramswarup, Neelesh N Rawal).

Following at 4:00 PM is The Nawab M Arshad Ali Khan Memorial Cup, a high-class handicap for horses rated 80 and above over 1400 meters. With a competitive prize purse, the field includes GLORIOUS KING (Aleemuddin, Deepesh Narredu), KALAMITSI (Ramswarup, S.S. Attaollahi), CHAMPIONS WAY (Suraj Narredu, S. Narredu), SHADOW OF THE MOON (K.G. Likith Appu, L. D’Silva), and VIVALDO (C.A. Brisson, Faraz Arshad).

At 4:30 PM, The Rare Gem Plate (Div I) is scheduled, again for horses rated 20 to 45 over 1200 meters with a ₹5,10,000 purse. Leading contenders include EASTERN GOLD (Akshay Kumar, Darius R. Byramji), DON CARLOS (P. Trevor, S.S. Attaollahi), SMALL DREAMS (Pavan, Vishesh M.P.), ADITYA (K. Sai Kiran, Warren Singh), and PRICELESS PRINCE (A.A. Vikrant, S. Narredu).

The final race, The Manjri Stud Plate, wraps up the day at 5:00 PM. Open to five-year-old and older horses rated 40 to 65, this 1200-meter handicap race offers a prize of ₹6,30,000. The field is topped by MAZAL TOV (Antony Raj S., Neil B Devaney), GIMMLER (Imran Chisty, Rutherford Alford), STAR CONCEPT (Shezad Khan, Rajesh Narredu), LAUTERBRUNNEN (Ramswarup, Narayana Gowda V.), and SUPER SAPPHIRE (Siddaraju P., Rajesh Narredu).
