Beginning at 9:30 a.m. and concluding shortly after 1:00 p.m., the meeting provides opportunities for both experienced campaigners and emerging talent to showcase their abilities. With races ranging from sprint contests for juveniles to stamina-testing obstacle events, the programme reflects the diversity of French racing.

The opening race, the Prix Paul Valerien Perrin, is a Class 3 hurdle over 3,800 metres for horses aged five years and older. Six runners are scheduled to compete in a race where jumping accuracy and staying power will be essential. As the first contest of the day, it promises to set an energetic tone for the remainder of the meeting.

The spotlight then turns to the Grand Steeple-Chase d’Aix-les-Bains, the richest race of the day, scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Run as a handicap steeplechase over 4,300 metres, the feature carries a prize fund of €39,000 and has attracted a competitive field of six experienced chasers.

Leading the field is Genteel Star, a 10-year-old carrying 72.5kg for jockey Angelo Zuliani and trainer A. Boisbrunet. Also in contention is The Likely Lad, trained by N. George & A. Zetterholm and partnered by Felix de Giles, who carries 71.5kg. Joyvol, representing the stable of Chaille-Chaille & Pamart, competes under Louis Salmon with 65kg, while Parkatthetheatre (IRE), trained by F. Nicolle and ridden by Tristan Lemagnen, carries 69kg. Completing the line-up are Saint Tunis, partnered by Thomas Figueira for trainer D. Satalia, and Just A Kiss Sivola, who will be ridden by Benjamin Gelhay for M. Pitart. The demanding distance and challenging fences are expected to reward horses capable of combining stamina with fluent jumping throughout the contest.

The third event, the Prix de la Dent du Chat, is a claiming hurdle over 3,400 metres for three-year-olds. Although the field is limited to five runners, the race offers developing young jumpers another opportunity to gain valuable competitive experience while continuing their progression.

Race four is the Prix du Salève, a handicap hurdle over 3,800 metres for four-year-olds. Six runners will tackle another demanding obstacle course where consistency over the extended trip is likely to prove decisive. The contest provides promising hurdlers with a chance to establish themselves at this level.

The programme then switches to flat racing with the Prix des Améthystes, a claiming contest for two-year-olds over 1,200 metres. Featuring five runners, the race offers an early look at juvenile talent as young horses continue their racing education over the sprint distance.

One of the afternoon’s principal attractions follows with the Grand Prix d’Aix-les-Bains, a Class 2 flat contest over 1,800 metres carrying prize money of €20,100. Open to horses aged four years and older, the race has drawn six experienced competitors. The middle-distance event is expected to produce an intriguing tactical contest, with positioning and finishing speed likely to play crucial roles over the final stages.

Race seven, the Prix du Mont Revard, is a maiden over 2,000 metres for horses aged four years and older. Eight runners are entered, making it the largest field on the card. Maiden races frequently produce closely fought finishes as horses seek the first victory of their careers, adding further interest to the afternoon programme.

The meeting concludes with the Prix des Perce-Neiges, a Class 4 contest over 2,500 metres for older horses. Eight runners are set to line up in the staying event, where endurance and patience are expected to be key factors. The longer trip provides a fitting finale to a programme that showcases a broad range of racing disciplines.

Situated close to Lake Bourget and surrounded by the French Alps, Aix-les-Bains Racecourse offers one of the country’s most picturesque racing settings. Its summer meetings continue to attract participants and racing enthusiasts who appreciate both the sporting competition and the venue’s scenic backdrop.

The 2026 Bastille Day fixture once again highlights the racecourse’s ability to present quality action across both jumps and flat racing. The Grand Steeple-Chase d’Aix-les-Bains stands as the meeting’s headline event, featuring experienced chasers including Genteel Star, The Likely Lad, Joyvol, Parkatthetheatre (IRE), Saint Tunis, and Just A Kiss Sivola, while the Grand Prix d’Aix-les-Bains provides another significant highlight for established flat performers.

With competitive fields, varied race conditions and quality contests spread across the eight-race programme, Aix-les-Bains promises an entertaining Bastille Day of French racing that celebrates the depth and tradition of the sport without losing sight of emerging talent and experienced campaigners alike.
