Under the glow of the evening lights, Abu Dhabi Turf Club will stage a carefully structured seven-race programme on 27 February. The fixture will present a composed blend of stamina examinations and tactically nuanced mile contests, progressing in measured sequence from extended-distance races to sharper sprint engagements across the turf circuit.
Feature distinction will attach to The Crescent Light Stakes, scheduled for 16:30 over 2200 metres for five-year-olds and older, and carrying the evening’s highest purse of AED 125,000. By value and positioning, it will serve as the principal reference point on the card.
The action will commence at 16:00 with Race 1 – Wathba Stallions Cup, a 2200-metre contest for four-year-olds and upwards worth AED 70,000. Af Makeen, Aljamri, Athbi Al Shahania, Barghash and Ghali Al Athman will contest the opener, where stamina and measured pace will shape the outcome over the extended journey.
At 16:30, Race 2 – The Crescent Light Stakes will bring together Ajrad Athbah, Bahwan, Kanti De Bozouls, Rb Yas Sir and Bucanero. The 2200-metre carrying the purse of AED 125,000, will demand patience in the early stages before a sustained finishing effort in the home straight, particularly given the sweeping configuration of the course.
The staying theme will continue at 17:00 with Race 3 – Soil of the Union, another 2200-metre examination restricted to four-year-olds and offering AED 66,000 in prize money. Mektoub El Ahlem, Yassa, Za’akhir, Aala’a and Aameed will line up in what will represent a further test of developing middle-distance credentials.
The programme will transition to the mile at 17:30 with Race 4 – Masar Almajd Mile, staged over 1600 metres for four-year-olds and upwards and valued at AED 66,000. Es Sudani, Ludo De Lagarde, Maahir, Jallaab and Algrain will compete in a race where tactical positioning and controlled acceleration will assume decisive importance.
Speed will become more prominent at 18:00 in Race 5 – Darb Al Reeh Sprint, run over 1400 metres for four-year-olds and above with AED 66,000 allocated. Af Man’oot, Af Nafith, Magic Touch, Af Ghayyar and Tahhan Al Wathba will assemble for a contest likely to be influenced by early fractions and sustained rhythm through the straight.
Handicap conditions will apply at 19:00 in Race 6 – The Flash of Sand Handicap, also contested over 1400 metres for three-year-olds and older and carrying AED 66,000. Acacus, Al Muzn, Charming Life, Chosen Mark and Dukedom will meet under assigned weights, introducing an additional layer of competitive balance to the field.
The concluding event at 19:30 will be Race 7 – The Majlis Mile, a 1600-metre race for three-year-olds and upwards with AED 66,000 on offer. Chef De Partie, Goldamal, Masubi, Miqdaar and Modest Mac will close the programme in a contest that will reward composure, efficiency and precise timing over the mile distance.
Across the Abu Dhabi Race Cards 27 February meeting, the structured progression from stamina-based contests to tactical mile events and sprint handicaps will provide a coherent and competitive evening of turf sport, reflecting the depth and variety of the capital’s racing calendar.
