The Bangalore Summer Meeting – Day 14 commenced in style on Sunday, June 29, 2025, with SUNLIT PATH claiming top honours in the opening race of the day, The Mahalakshmi Plate. This 1600-meter handicap race, for horses rated 00 to 25, offered a purse of ₹4,50,000 and set the tone for what promises to be a competitive afternoon of racing at the Bangalore Turf Club.
Trained by K. Purshotham and piloted with confidence by A. Sandesh, Sunlit Path produced a determined performance, hitting the front at the right moment and holding off a late challenge to seal a decisive win for owner Mr. Vishnu Vardhan Reddy Komma. The gelding was guided beautifully through the field, showcasing a sharp turn of foot in the final stretch in 1:41.13.
Finishing in second place was ANCHORAGE, trained by Imtiaz Khan and ridden by Ritesh Gochhi. The gelding put up a strong show, remaining in contention throughout the mile-long race but lacked the finishing kick to overhaul the winner and timed at 1:42.26.
Rounding off the top three was EMBOSOM, with V.R. Jagadeesh in the saddle and trained by V. Lokanath, who secured third with a respectable finish, staying on gamely in the closing stages and clocked at 1:42.42.
The victory gave connections of Sunlit Path an early reason to celebrate on what is shaping up to be a thrilling day of racing. With seven more contests ahead, including the much-anticipated Chief Minister’s Cup at 4:00 PM with a prize purse of ₹15,80,000, racing fans can expect plenty more excitement at Bangalore Turf Club.
