The Qatar Prix du Jockey Club (Group 1), the first leg of the Arc Races series at Chantilly, witnessed a stunning upset on June 1st, 2025, as CAMILLE PISSARRO stormed to victory. The talented colt was brilliantly ridden by Ryan Moore and trained by the ever-successful Aidan O’Brien. Bred at CN Farm Ltd, the Irish-bred runner is owned by M. Tabor, D. Smith, Mrs. J. Magnier, and P. M. Brant. CAMILLE PISSARRO is by Wootton Bassett (GB) out of Entreat.

The Qatar Prix du Jockey Club marked the start of the newly introduced ‘Arc Races’, a high-profile eight-race series culminating in the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. Each winner of the Arc Races secures a wildcard entry into the prestigious autumn event, adding an exciting layer to the European flat racing calendar. With this initiative, France Galop aims to build a thrilling pathway to the Arc, engaging fans and stakeholders alike.

By winning at Chantilly, CAMILLE PISSARRO, a three-year-old colt, secured a coveted place in what’s often dubbed the World Cup of Thoroughbreds, the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, set for Sunday, October 5, 2025, at ParisLongchamp.

Close behind the winner was CUALIFICAR, ridden by William Buick and trained by André Fabre, while DETAIN, partnered by Christophe Soumillon and trained by John & Thady Gosden, finished third to complete a competitive top-three lineup.

The winners of the prestigious race were crowned by Hamad bin Abdulrahman Al-Attiyah, Chairman of the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC). A total of 18 runners contested the 2100-meter event, showcasing an intense battle for dominance. The racing world now eagerly turns its focus to the next leg of the Arc Races, where contenders will continue to emerge in the run-up to the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
