Sandown Park to Host Season Finale Featuring Gold Cup and Celebration Chase

The Sandown Park Racecourse is going to have its last day of the 2024/25 Jump Season on April 26th, 2025. Till now, the jumping season has been a spectacular one. With the last day approaching, it marks the time for various celebrations and the opportunity to build memories at the tracks.

Several races are scheduled for the day, including the Grade 1 Celebration Chase over a distance of 2 miles and the Gold Cup, which was started in 1957, making it a historically thrilling racing experience. The race day will be a mixture of celebration and horse racing, as the Champion Jockey, Owner, Trainer, and Horse of the Year will be bestowed with their respective titles before the races. This will set the stage for happiness and honor, adding to the excitement of the champions, while racegoers will get to recap the entire season. It will become a gathering spot for all types of horse racing enthusiasts.

The gates to the track will open at 11:00 am, with the first race starting at 1:20 pm and the last race of the day taking place at 4:45 pm. To add to the celebration spirit, there will be an afterparty at approximately 5:00 pm with Scott Mills. The sensational race day will begin with the Novices’ Championship Final Handicap Hurdle, a 1 mile, 7 furlong, and 216 yards long race at 1:20 pm. Racegoers will embark on a journey of horse racing, witnessing thrilling finishes and exciting performances just after the crowning of the champions.

The thrill will be maintained with the next race on the card, the Josh Gifford Novices’ Handicap Steeple Chase, at 1:50 pm, which will be run over a distance of 2 miles, 4 furlongs, and 10 yards. The third race of the day will be the Oaksey Steeple Chase (Grade 2), which will be run over a distance of 2 miles and 6 furlongs. The race will captivate the audience and will begin at 2:25 pm.

This afternoon race will pass on the excitement to the fourth race of the day, the Select Hurdle (Grade 2), which will be held at 3:00 pm and will be run over a distance of 2 miles, 5 furlongs, and 110 yards. The Celebration Steeple Chase (Grade 1), a national hunt steeplechase, will be the next race of the day. This race will be run over a distance of 1 mile, 7 furlongs, and 99 yards at 3:35 pm.

The Gold Cup Handicap Steeple Chase, a 3 miles, 4 furlongs, and 146 yards long race, will be held at 4:10 pm, captivating the audience and potentially setting new records. The thrill will be carried through to the last race of the day, the Handicap Hurdle, at 4:45 pm, which will be run over a distance of 2 miles, 3 furlongs, and 173 yards.

The race day will come to an end with spectators witnessing the thrilling conclusion of the season, filled with great celebration and enthusiasm, making it a must-watch event!
