Green Carrera delivered a strong late finish under Umberto Rispoli to secure a narrow victory in the Let It Ride Stakes at Del Mar on Friday, as the California racecourse opened its 13th Bing Crosby Season. The three-year-old filly edged out Deucari by a neck in the grass mile, with Jordi Bear finishing third.

The English-bred bay filly, trained by Leonard Powell, settled towards the rear of the eight-runner field as the early pace developed. The leaders covered the opening fractions in 22.67 seconds, 46.14 seconds and 1:10.49 before reaching the 1,400-metre mark in 1:23.

Rispoli brought Green Carrera into contention around the far turn, guiding her towards the outside before asking for a finishing effort. The filly responded with a strong turn of foot in the home stretch and secured the win in a final time of 1:34.51.

Green Carrera, a daughter of Lope de Vega, recorded her fourth career victory from nine starts. The success earned her $60,000 from the $102,100 stakes purse and increased her career earnings to $225,838. Rancho Temescal Thoroughbred Partners, led by Tim Cohen, and associates owned the winner.

Deucari, representing Sayjay Racing, finished second, while Jordi Bear, owned by Glen Hill Farm, Little Red Feather Racing and partners, took third.

The victory marked the first stakes success of the meeting for both Rispoli and Powell. It was Rispoli’s 53rd stakes win at Del Mar and his second in the Let It Ride Stakes, following Dandy Man Shines in 2023. Powell recorded his 15th stakes victory at the venue and his second in this race after Tempus Volat’s success in 2025.

Rispoli praised the filly’s finishing ability and said the mile distance suited her well. Powell also appreciated the patience shown by the jockey during the race, particularly his decision to avoid taking her too wide around the final turn.

Green Carrera secured the Let It Ride Stakes by a neck under Umberto Rispoli, giving trainer Leonard Powell his second victory in the event. Deucari finished second and Jordi Bear placed third.
