Senti La Voce made a successful start to his racing career at Gulfstream Park on Friday, October 23, 2026, overcoming multiple stakes-placed Holy Warrior by a neck in a six-furlong maiden special weight for two-year-olds. The son of Speaker’s Corner showed determination in the closing stages to secure victory in 1:13.44 on the fast main track.
Ridden by Micah Husbands for leading Sunshine Meet trainer Saffie Joseph Jr., Senti La Voce broke from Gate 5 and moved to the front shortly after the start. Holy Warrior, who started from the outside Gate 8, applied pressure through the opening stages, with the first quarter-mile covered in 22.13 seconds.
Holy Warrior gained the advantage on the far turn after the half-mile was completed in 45.05 seconds. Senti La Voce remained close to his rival along the inside and responded when Husbands asked for a stronger effort in the stretch. The debutant rallied during the final 50 yards to regain the lead and secure a narrow victory.
White Foot Willie, another runner trained by Joseph, finished third, four lengths behind the leading pair.
Husbands praised the colt’s determination after the race and expressed confidence in his future development. He also explained that Senti La Voce had broken well and initially travelled comfortably in front before Holy Warrior’s challenge helped keep him focused through the closing stages.
Senti La Voce was purchased by Joseph for $425,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale in May. He is a son of Speaker’s Corner, who won the Fred Hooper Stakes (G3) and Gulfstream Park Mile (G2) in 2022 before capturing the Carter Handicap (G1) that spring.
Out of the Archarcharch mare Marvelous Spot, Senti La Voce is a half-brother to stakes winner Conducted. His first appearance on the track provided an encouraging introduction to racing, with his response after losing the lead proving particularly important to the outcome.
Holy Warrior entered the contest after finishing third behind undefeated multiple stakes winner Sum of Success in the September 5 Express Tour and second in the October 3 Palm Bay overnight handicap. The son of five-time Grade 1 winner Jackie’s Warrior returned to maiden company but had to settle for second behind Senti La Voce.
Friday’s Gulfstream Park programme also included three other races for two-year-olds, alongside two claiming contests and an optional claiming allowance for juvenile fillies over five furlongs. The fillies’ race was transferred to the Tapeta all-weather course.
John C. Minchello’s Roadsterella produced another notable performance, passing pacesetting favourite Army Salute to win by two lengths in 57.59 seconds. The result marked her second consecutive victory and added to the juvenile action on the card.
Jockey Leonel Reyes recorded a double aboard Come On Poppi in Race 5 and Classic Genes in Race 9. Trainer David Fawkes also secured two victories, with Getaholdayourself winning Race 2 and Show Off taking Race 6. Jose D’Angelo completed the late daily double with Motown Diva in Race 8 and Classic Genes in Race 9.
Senti La Voce defeated Holy Warrior by a neck on his Gulfstream Park debut, completing six furlongs in 1:13.44. Trained by Saffie Joseph Jr. and ridden by Micah Husbands, the two-year-old son of Speaker’s Corner showed resilience after losing the lead on the far turn before rallying in the closing yards to secure his first career victory.
