By | 23 Oct 2026 | Mumbai

Gulfstream Park will resume its fall Sunshine Meet on Friday with a nine-race programme featuring four contests for two-year-olds across the main track, turf and Tapeta surfaces. The Gulfstream Park Sunshine Meet will begin at 12:20 p.m. local time, with promising juveniles and established fillies and mares set to feature throughout the afternoon.

Senti La Voce to Make Debut in Opening Race

Friday’s opener will be a six-furlong maiden special weight contest for two-year-olds, with eight runners set to compete on the main track. Senti La Voce will make his debut after being purchased for $425,000 at auction in May. The son of Speaker’s Corner will face seven rivals as he begins his racing career.

Speaker’s Corner won the Grade 3 Fred Hooper Stakes and Grade 2 Gulfstream Park Mile in 2022 before adding the Grade 1 Carter Stakes that spring. Senti La Voce will face a more experienced opponent in Holy Warrior, a $100,000 son of five-time Grade 1 winner Jackie’s Warrior.

Holy Warrior will arrive with three starts behind him, including a third-place finish behind undefeated Sum of Success in the seven-furlong Express Tour on September 5 and second place in the one-mile Palm Bay overnight handicap on October 3.

Dorothy and Cathedral Sun Target Juvenile Breakthrough

Race 3 will feature juvenile fillies over one mile and 70 yards on the Tapeta in a maiden claiming contest. Dorothy, an Arindel homebred, will seek her first victory after recording three placed finishes from six starts, including a second-place finish in a similar contest on September 4.

Cathedral Sun will also enter after finishing second on debut over the same course and distance on September 13. Both fillies will look to build on their previous performances as they return to the all-weather surface.

Nine two-year-old fillies will line up in Race 4, an optional claiming allowance over five furlongs on the grass. Party Mix will head the field after winning a maiden special weight contest over the same course and distance on August 15. She will return following a sixth-place finish in the six-and-a-half-furlong Untapable Stakes at Kentucky Downs on August 30.

Goddess of Beauty will provide a notable challenge after finishing among the first three in four of her five starts. She will arrive following a maiden victory over five furlongs on Tapeta on September 4, having previously finished second behind Party Mix in August.

Vittoria Eva, Cynster, Roadsterella, Jost a Chance Yadi and Army Salute will add further depth to the field, with all five fillies entering after victories.

Florida-Bred Fillies to Close the Juvenile Programme

The final race will be a six-furlong maiden optional claiming contest on the main track for Florida-bred two-year-old fillies. Nine runners will be entered, including five first-time starters.

Khozan Ostra, trained by Saffie Joseph Jr., will make her debut as an AMG Equine homebred. She will represent Khozan, whose record includes 55 winners from 397 first-time starters and 38 winners from 256 juvenile debutants, according to the supplied statistics.

Classic Genes will bring previous racecourse experience after finishing second on debut over five and a half furlongs on September 25. Trained by Jose D’Angelo, the daughter of Classic Empire will seek to build on that performance.

Race 8 will feature an optional claiming allowance over a mile on the turf, attracting 11 fillies and mares aged three and older. City Minute will enter with a consistent record, having finished among the first three in 10 of 14 career starts.

Nancy’s Shawl will arrive after an eight-length victory at Canterbury Downs. The three-year-old Minnesota-bred daughter of Mohaymen will seek to carry that form into the Gulfstream contest.

Sunshine Meet Standings Remain Closely Contested

Leonel Reyes will lead the Sunshine Meet jockey standings with 28 wins, ahead of Samy Camacho on 25. Miguel Vasquez will follow with 21, Diego Herrera with 20 and Edwin Hernandez with 19.

Saffie Joseph Jr. will top the trainers’ standings with 18 wins, followed by Jose D’Angelo on 17, Victor Barboza Jr. on 14 and Carlos David on 13.

The Gulfstream Park Sunshine Meet will return Friday with nine races, including four juvenile contests across three surfaces. Senti La Voce will make his debut in the opener, Party Mix will lead the nine-filly turf field, and Race 8 will feature an 11-runner allowance for fillies and mares.
