Woodbine will stage two $125,000 juvenile stakes contests on Sunday, October 11, 2026, with Unbridled Freedom preparing for the Display Stakes and Lamirada seeking her first stakes victory in the Glorious Song Stakes. Both seven-furlong races will take place on the main track, with five runners entered in the Display Stakes and seven fillies set to contest the Glorious Song Stakes.
The meeting will provide an important opportunity for two promising two-year-olds to strengthen their early credentials. Unbridled Freedom will aim to turn two runner-up finishes in the United States into a breakthrough performance, while Lamirada will attempt to build on an impressive debut victory after gaining valuable experience against Grade 1 opposition.
Unbridled Freedom Prepares for Display Stakes Challenge
Trained by Patrick Dixon for Colebrook Farms, Unbridled Freedom will enter the Display Stakes following two second-place finishes in the United States. The son of Title Ready, out of the Medaglia d’Oro mare Unbridled Medaglia, will make his Woodbine debut over seven furlongs after competing in two six-furlong races.
The colt will have made his first career appearance at Ellis Park on August 21, where he will have finished second after taking control before the halfway point. He will then have returned to action at Churchill Downs on September 16, producing another runner-up effort after racing wide throughout the contest.
Dixon will be encouraged by the colt’s consistency and professional approach in both starts. The trainer will have pointed to the ground lost during the Churchill Downs race, explaining that the wide trip will have limited his opportunity to challenge the eventual winner more closely.
Unbridled Freedom will now face a different test at Woodbine, where his ability to settle behind the pace and handle the synthetic Polytrack surface will be important considerations. Dixon will also expect the additional furlong to suit his charge, provided the race develops at a suitable tempo.
The trainer will bring previous success in the event, having prepared Thundering to win the 2024 Display Stakes. His latest contender will have continued to progress in training, recording a three-furlong workout in 40.80 seconds over the Woodbine main track on October 7.
Bred in Kentucky by Charles Fipke, Unbridled Freedom will have been purchased for $45,000 at the 2025 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. Mark Spooner will serve as his groom.
The five-runner field will also include Verge, Odenkirk, Quipster and Uncle Dodo. Daisuke Fukumoto will ride both Verge and Uncle Dodo for trainer Barb Minshall. Rafael Hernandez will partner Odenkirk for Mark Casse, while Pietro Moran will take the mount on Quipster for Kevin Attard. Fraser Aebly will ride Unbridled Freedom.
Lamirada Targets First Stakes Victory in Glorious Song Stakes
Lamirada will headline the seven-filly field for the Glorious Song Stakes as she prepares for her third career start. The homebred daughter of Army Mule, owned by Mark Dodson and trained by Josie Carroll, will attempt to secure her first stakes victory over seven furlongs at Woodbine.
The dark bay filly will arrive with an impressive debut performance behind her. On August 8, she will have won a six-furlong contest at Woodbine by 11¾ lengths, displaying sharp early speed and an effective turn of foot.
Fraser Aebly, who will retain the ride for the Glorious Song Stakes, will have praised Lamirada’s ability to accelerate and extend her advantage during that first appearance. Her dominant debut will have encouraged connections to test her against elite opposition in the Grade 1 Natalma Stakes on September 12.
That one-mile turf assignment will have provided a demanding examination. Lamirada will have led for much of the contest before finishing seventh, but the experience will have exposed her to a higher level of competition.
Aebly will have emphasised that the filly will have faced sustained pressure throughout the Natalma Stakes, leaving her with limited opportunities to settle during the race. Despite the result, her willingness to maintain the lead against experienced opposition will have offered encouragement for her future development.
Her physical strength and temperament will remain important assets heading into Sunday’s assignment. Aebly will have described her as a substantial, intelligent filly with a strong work ethic, while her morning preparation will have continued under Carroll’s supervision.
The Glorious Song Stakes will also mark Lamirada’s first attempt at seven furlongs. Her ability to carry her speed over the additional distance will be a key factor, particularly after her demanding effort over a mile in the Natalma Stakes.
The field will include Cattrall, From Time to Time, Madeleine Swann, Traction Park, Epic Affair and Hope Is a Breeze. Pietro Moran will ride Cattrall for Kevin Attard, while Sahin Civaci will partner From Time to Time for Mark Casse. Romero Ramsay Maragh will take the mount on Madeleine Swann for Carroll, with Emma-Jayne Wilson booked for Traction Park. Ryan Munger will ride Epic Affair for Gail Cox, and Rafael Hernandez will partner Hope Is a Breeze for Carroll.
Two Stakes Contests to Test Woodbine’s Promising Juveniles
The Display Stakes and Glorious Song Stakes will offer contrasting opportunities for Woodbine’s emerging two-year-old talent. Unbridled Freedom will aim to build on his consistent performances in the United States while adapting to a new surface, whereas Lamirada will seek to translate her impressive debut form into a first stakes success.
The Display Stakes will feature five runners, while the Glorious Song Stakes will bring together seven juvenile fillies. Both contests will be run over seven furlongs on Sunday, October 11, with the results expected to provide further insight into the development of their young participants.
Unbridled Freedom will face a new challenge in the Display Stakes after two runner-up finishes, while Lamirada will seek her first stakes victory in the Glorious Song Stakes at Woodbine on October 11.
