Compiègne will host a competitive nine-race flat card on Friday, October 9, 2026, with the afternoon programme featuring contests for two-year-olds, three-year-olds and older horses. The meeting begins at 1:08 PM and continues through to 5:48 PM, with distances ranging from 1,400 metres to 2,000 metres. The highlight of the day is the Prix Charles Laffitte, a Listed contest for three-year-old fillies over 2,000 metres, carrying a prize purse of €50,300. France Galop lists the race as a Listed event with a maximum field size of 18 runners.

The opening race, the Prix de Venette, is scheduled for 1:08 PM and brings together eight two-year-old runners over 2,000 metres. The contest carries €27,400 and is a maiden event. The distance will test the young fillies’ ability to settle and maintain their rhythm over a longer trip. With limited experience among the runners, the race could provide an interesting early test of development and stamina.

At 1:43 PM, the Prix de Jaux will follow over the same 2,000-metre distance. Ten two-year-olds are entered for another €27,400 maiden contest. The longer distance again puts emphasis on stamina, while the runners will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience around the Compiègne course.

The third race, the Prix de Longueil-Annel, is due off at 2:18 PM. The contest is for three-year-olds and covers 1,400 metres, with 10 runners listed. The race carries €20,100 and is another maiden event. The shorter distance should bring speed and tactical positioning into greater focus, particularly during the closing stages.

The fourth race, the Prix du Carrefour du Vivier Corax, is scheduled for 2:53 PM. It is a 1,400-metre handicap for horses aged four and above and carries €17,300. With 16 runners listed, the race represents one of the larger fields of the afternoon. Experience over the distance and the ability to find a good position could prove important as the field approaches the final stages.

At 3:28 PM, three-year-olds will return to action in the Prix de Jonquières. The race is run over 1,800 metres and features a field of 16 for a €20,100 purse. As another maiden contest, it offers an opportunity for developing runners to make their mark over an intermediate distance that demands a balance between speed and stamina.

The main event of the Compiègne programme arrives at 4:03 PM with the Prix Charles Laffitte. The Listed race is for three-year-old fillies and covers 2,000 metres, with €50,300 on offer. France Galop’s official programme states that the contest is restricted to fillies that have not won a Group race since May 9, 2026. The standard weight is 56kg, with additional weight applying to fillies that have won Listed races during the specified period. The seventh race, the Prix du Carrefour du Francport, begins at 4:38 PM. Sixteen runners aged four and above are scheduled to contest the 1,400-metre handicap, which carries €20,200. The large field should make the early positioning and pace particularly important.

At 5:13 PM, the Prix du Carrefour du Mont du Tremble will be run over 1,400 metres. The Class 3 handicap is open to horses aged four and above and has a €28,800 purse. With 16 runners listed, it is one of the most substantial handicaps on the card and provides another strong test of speed over the shorter trip.

The meeting concludes at 5:48 PM with the Prix du Carrefour du Fond Pernant. The 1,400-metre Class 3 handicap carries €22,100 and is also open to horses aged four and above. Sixteen runners are listed, bringing the afternoon to a close with another sizeable field.

Overall, the Compiègne programme combines races for emerging two- and three-year-olds with competitive contests for older horses. The Prix Charles Laffitte stands out as the principal race of the afternoon, while the three later 1,400-metre handicaps provide plenty of action during the closing part of the card. With nine races scheduled between 1:08 PM and 5:48 PM, the October 9 meeting promises a varied afternoon of French flat racing.
