Sedgefield will stage a six-race Jump programme on Tuesday, September 29, with the afternoon card scheduled from 2:15 PM to 4:45 PM. The meeting will feature hurdle races, steeple chases and a National Hunt Flat race, with contests for juveniles as well as older horses. Distances on the card range from just over two miles to two miles and five furlongs.
The opening race at 2:15 PM will be the Roxyfet Sports Lounge For Private Hire Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle, a Class 5 contest over two miles and 146 yards. The race is open to three-year-olds and older horses rated 0-105 and carries £6,150 in prize money. The contest forms part of the Go North Sea Pigeon Series Qualifier and will provide conditional jockeys with an opportunity to compete over the Sedgefield hurdles.
At 2:45 PM, the programme moves to the Sedgefield Racecourse For Outdoor Events Juvenile Maiden Hurdle, a Class 4 contest for three-year-olds. The race will be run over two miles and 146 yards and carries £10,000 in prize money. With eight hurdles scheduled, the event will provide a test for the juvenile runners as they take on their first challenges over the Sedgefield course.
The third race at 3:15 PM will be the Winning Connections Conference Hire Handicap Steeple Chase. This Class 4 contest is open to four-year-olds and older horses rated 0-120 and will be run over two miles, five furlongs and 76 yards. The race carries £8,900 and is part of the Go North Monet’s Garden Series Qualifier. The extended distance will make stamina an important factor as the runners tackle the steeplechase course.
The action continues at 3:45 PM with the Fairlight Studios Cafe @ Sedgefield Racecourse Handicap Hurdle. The Class 5 race will cover two miles, three furlongs and 148 yards and is open to three-year-olds and older horses rated 0-100. With £6,150 in prize money, the race is another qualifying contest in the Go North series, this time for the Cab On Target Series.
At 4:15 PM, runners will line up for the Mowden Park RFC Handicap Steeple Chase, a Class 4 contest over two miles and 117 yards. The race is open to four-year-olds and older horses rated 0-110 and carries £8,900. It is also a Go North One Man Series Qualifier. The shorter steeplechase distance compared with the earlier 3:15 PM event will provide a different test of jumping ability and pace.
The six-race programme will conclude at 4:45 PM with the MW Civils and Groundworks Open National Hunt Flat Race. This Class 4 Category 1 Elimination contest will cover two miles and 146 yards and is open to four- and five-year-olds. The race carries £7,200 in prize money and is designed for horses that have not previously run under recognised Rules of Racing, apart from eligible National Hunt or French AQPS Flat races.
The Sedgefield card offers a varied afternoon of Jump racing, with three hurdle contests, two steeple chases and a National Hunt Flat race. The programme includes several qualifying races from the Go North series, while the juvenile maiden hurdle provides a dedicated opportunity for three-year-olds. The £10,000 juvenile contest is the highest-value race on the card, while the final National Hunt Flat event will bring the day’s action to a close at 4:45 PM.
