The Duraco Ltée Trophy was contested over 1650 metres, placing a premium on both tactical positioning and finishing strength. The 1.3-length winning margin reflected a clear advantage over Brave Bomber at the finish.
Brave Bomber, carrying 58.5kg and starting from barrier two, finished second with T Juglall in the saddle. Colour My Fate completed the top three after carrying 52kg and was ridden by Y Appou, with A Sewdyal listed as the trainer. The result therefore saw the leading three positions decided among a compact field.
We Have Touchdown’s winning time of 1:40.87 provided a solid mark for the 1650-metre contest. The horse’s ability to carry 60kg and still finish 1.3 lengths clear added further significance to the performance, while the partnership between the winner and Mukesh Kumar proved decisive.
The race had initially included Menelaus, but the runner was scratched, leaving three horses to contest the trophy. With the reduced field, positioning became particularly important, and We Have Touchdown ultimately secured the advantage required to finish ahead of Brave Bomber and Colour My Fate.
For Mukesh Kumar, the Duraco Ltée Trophy represented an important international success. Indian jockeys have continued to feature in racing jurisdictions outside the country, and victories such as this have helped bring greater attention to Indian riding talent on overseas tracks.
