2400 meters of prestige: The stage is all set for The Bangalore Derby 2025

The HPSL Bangalore Derby, set to take place on Sunday, 26th January 2025, is one of the most anticipated events in Indian horse racing. This Grade I race will see 4-year-old Indian horses, foaled in 2021, compete over a challenging distance of 2400 meters. As the 6th race of the day, the stakes are exceptionally high, with a prize pool of  Rs. 1,24,81,425 and a whopping Rs. 75,00,000 reserved for the winner.

The list of contenders features the crème de la crème of Indian racing. P. Shroff’s MANSA MUSA and TIEPOLO are among the favorites, with their impeccable track records making them formidable opponents. Rajesh Narredu trained EXCELLENT LASS has also garnered significant attention, while Irfan Ghatala’s MANDARINO and Darius Byramji’s RANQUELINO are expected to deliver strong performances. Bharath Singh’s SECRET SAINT and Prasanna Kumar’s REDEFINED bring additional intrigue to the field, as does Parvati Byramji’s  MAGNETIC. Adding to the excitement is S.S. Attaollahi’s AQUASTIC, rounding out a field brimming with talent and potential.

The day’s festivities begin with The Saddle Up Cup, catering to Class 5 horses rated 00 to 25, setting a competitive tone. The C. Narayana Reddy Memorial Million follows, offering a platform for maiden three-year-olds to shine. Subsequent events, including The Mysore Race Club Cup and The Stewards Gold Cup, are expected to feature close finishes and thrilling moments, each adding layers of anticipation for the grand finale. The A.R. Trophy, preceding the Derby, will also serve as a key highlight for enthusiasts. The day will conclude with The Indian Republic Cup, divided into two divisions, ensuring an action-packed finish.
