Japan racing will turn its attention to Chukyo Racecourse on Sunday, August 30, where a twelve-race programme will feature The Chukyo Nisai Stakes (G3) as one of the afternoon’s principal contests. The 1,400-metre turf race for two-year-olds will be scheduled for 15:35 and will carry total prize money of ¥65,450,000, with nine runners set to line up.

The Chukyo Nisai Stakes will provide an early Group-level examination for a promising group of juveniles. Over 1,400 metres, the ability to settle through the opening stages and maintain a strong rhythm before producing a finishing effort will be important.

Chukyo Racecards 30 August

Piko King, ridden by Kanta Taguchi, will bring international interest to the field. The US-bred runner will face a competitive test against a predominantly Japanese-bred line-up.

Bakuso Shacho, partnered by Fuma Matsuwaka, will also take his place among the nine runners. The compact field will give the runner an opportunity to settle into a suitable position before the decisive stages.

Sant’Angelo, with Atsuya Nishimura in the saddle, will add further depth to the contest. The runner will face a useful opportunity to measure its development against other promising two-year-olds at G3 level.

Siskin Bloom, ridden by Taisei Danno, will also contest the race, while Maru Mori Muso, partnered by Fuma Izumiya, will add another option to the Chukyo field.

Jasper Trueno, with Yuji Nakai aboard, will provide a second US-bred entry. The runner will bring further international variety to the contest while taking on Japanese-bred rivals over the Chukyo 1,400-metre course.

Biscuit Sand, ridden by Yuichi Kitamura, will also line up for the Group 3 assignment. The experienced jockey booking will add another point of interest to the juvenile contest.

Piko Jack, partnered by Seinosuke Yoshimura, will complete another place in the field, while G T Maika, with Kohei Matsuyama aboard, will complete the nine-runner line-up.

International Interest at Chukyo

The presence of US-bred runners Piko King and Jasper Trueno will give the Chukyo Nisai Stakes an international dimension. Both will face Japanese-bred opposition in a race that will offer a useful indication of their progress at this stage of the season.

The 1,400-metre turf distance will place emphasis on balance and pace. The runners will need to conserve enough energy during the early part of the race before building their efforts towards the finish, while positioning through the middle stages could prove important in a compact field.

The jockey bookings will also add interest, with Kanta Taguchi, Fuma Matsuwaka, Atsuya Nishimura, Taisei Danno, Fuma Izumiya, Yuji Nakai, Yuichi Kitamura, Seinosuke Yoshimura and Kohei Matsuyama set to guide the nine runners.

For the young horses, the Chukyo Nisai Stakes will represent an opportunity to gain valuable Group-level experience. A strong showing at Chukyo could provide an important foundation for future assignments as the two-year-old programme develops.

The Chukyo Racecards 30 August will therefore offer a concise but competitive juvenile programme, headlined by the Chukyo Nisai Stakes G3. With nine runners set for the 1,400-metre turf contest and two US-bred entrants adding an international element, the race will provide another useful examination of Japan’s emerging two-year-old talent.
