The Riyadh Racing Season will feature a major addition to its 2026 programme with the introduction of the Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Cup, a SAR1 million contest designed for three-year-old Purebred Arabians. The new race strengthens Saudi Arabia’s commitment to developing Arabian racing and adds another prestigious event to an already significant season.
Riyadh Racing Season 2026 will include the newly introduced Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Cup as part of the HRH Prince Faisal bin Khaled bin Abdulaziz Al Saud sponsored racecard.
Scheduled for November 21, 2026, the 1600-metre race will become one of the most valuable contests in the country for three-year-old Purebred Arabians. It will stand alongside the Group 3 King Faisal Cup, held during the Taif Racing Season, as a leading prize-money event for young Arabian horses in Saudi Arabia.
The race will take place on an important Riyadh card that also features two SAR1 million Thoroughbred contests supported by Prince Faisal bin Khaled. These include the Princess Setah bint Fahad Aldamer Cup for two-year-old fillies and the Prince Faisal Bin Khaled bin Abdulaziz Cup for two-year-old colts and geldings, both run over 1600 metres.
The Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Cup marks the first Purebred Arabian race to receive support from the Red Stables principle, adding further significance to the event within the national racing programme.
The evening’s schedule will conclude with the Listed Crown Prince Cup, a 2400-metre Thoroughbred race carrying a SAR1 million purse. The fixture promises to be one of the most valuable race days of the Riyadh calendar, bringing together some of the country’s leading young Thoroughbreds and Purebred Arabians.
The introduction of the new Arabian feature reflects the continued efforts of the Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia to preserve and promote Purebred Arabian racing.
