The tall grey mare found her stride in the final stages of the six-furlong contest and finished with enough authority to secure a half-length victory.

The Bessie Coleman Del Mar race result was the key outcome from Thursday’s feature race at Del Mar.The five-year-old daughter of Grazen, a leading stallion from Alexander’s breeding operation, recorded the third win of her career in the allowance event for California-bred fillies and mares. Trained by Steve Miyadi and ridden by Diego Herrera, Bessie Coleman completed the six furlongs in 1:10.59.

Redheaded Reba, representing Woodstock Racing Stable, finished second after a determined effort, while Jordan Wycoff’s Syntax crossed the line in third after a close finish for the minor placing.
The Del Mar feature race formed part of Thursday’s card, with racing scheduled to continue on Friday. The next meeting will begin with the regular first post time of 2 p.m.
