On January 9, 2025, the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) Mumbai’s Mahalakshmi Race Course is set to host six exciting races. The first race will be the Dr. A. H. Sayed Plate. This race is for horses classified in Class 5 with ratings between 1 and 26. The total prize money for this race is ₹5,00,000, to be distributed among the top five finishers. The winner will receive ₹2,35,000, the runner-up ₹1,25,000, the third-place finisher ₹1,00,000, the fourth ₹25,000, and the fifth ₹15,000. The race will begin at 2:30 p.m. and cover a distance of 1,200 metres.
The second race of the day is the Madras Race Club Trophy. Class 1 horses with ratings of 80 and above will compete in this race, covering a total distance of 1,200 metres. The total prize pool for this race is ₹10,00,000. The winner will take home ₹4,70,000, the second-place finisher will receive ₹2,50,000, the third-place finisher ₹2,00,000, the fourth ₹50,000, and the fifth ₹30,000.
The third race, the Vallabhdas H. Adwalia Trophy, will cover a distance of 1,600 metres and is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. This is a Class 4 race for horses with ratings between 20 and 46, though horses with ratings between 0 and 19 are also eligible to participate. The total prize pool for this race is ₹5,50,000, with ₹2,58,500 for the winner, ₹1,37,500 for second place, ₹1,10,000 for third place, ₹27,500 for fourth place, and ₹16,500 for fifth place.
The fourth race, the Greater Mumbai Police Trophy, is another Class 4 event for horses with ratings between 20 and 46, with 0 to 19 also eligible. The total prize money for this race is ₹5,50,000, distributed among the top five finishers.
The fifth race, the R. R. Byramji Salver, will be a Class 3 race for horses with ratings between 40 and 66, with 20 to 39 also eligible. The race will cover a distance of 1,200 metres and is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. The prize pool for this race is ₹6,50,000, with ₹3,05,500 for the winner, ₹1,62,500 for the runner-up, ₹1,30,000 for third place, ₹32,500 for fourth place, and ₹19,500 for fifth place.
The final race, the Raza Ali Plate, is a Class 5 event for horses with ratings between 1 and 26, and whips will not be permitted.
