Royal Calcutta Turf Club (RCTC) has cancelled its 12th January races in wake of the ongoing strike of the stable employees of the race course.
According to a notice issued by RCTC’s Vice President (Racing) Amit Chaturvedi, “It is hereby informed that in view of the stable employees of the Race Horse and Stable Employees Welfare Society being adamant in continuing with their illegal flash strike resulting in no track work for the last 5 days, the Stewards Royal Calcutta Turf Club in exercise of their powers under the RCTC Rules of Racing have decided to cancel the Calcutta Races scheduled to be held on Sunday, 12th January, 2025”
Notice also mentioned, “However, The Calcutta Derby Stakes 2025 (Grade I) has been postponed to a later date, should racing resume. The inconvenience caused to all concerned is regretted”
