On a competitive afternoon at Salisbury Racecourse, a varied six-race programme was staged on Saturday, 25 July, featuring a mix of novice, maiden and handicap contests. The fixture produced several notable performances, with Callum Rodriguez stealing the headlines through a riding treble, while trainers Clive Cox, William Haggas, Harry Derham, Ollie Sangster and Kathy Turner all celebrated victories. Turner also completed a training double, adding further distinction to an entertaining day’s racing.

Opening the meeting, the British EBF Novice Stakes (Class 4) (GBB Race) saw PRIDE OF TOLEDO produce an impressive display under Callum Rodriguez for trainer Clive Cox and owner AlMohamediya Racing. The winner completed the contest in 1m 17.21s, finishing ahead of SIERRA BELLE in second and HEMUSTBEANANGEL in third to make a winning start to the card.

The maiden contest followed, where the Maiden Stakes (Class 4) (GBB Race) was claimed by MATINS. Ridden by Hector Crouch for trainer William Haggas and owner Cheveley Park Stud, the winner travelled strongly before stopping the clock in 1m 44.89s. RAGGAAS finished second after keeping on well, while KINETIC IMPACT secured third place.

Sprint honours were decided next in the Handicap Stakes (Class 5), with RED SNAPPER producing a determined effort to give trainer Kathy Turner her first success of the afternoon. Charlie Tucker guided the winner to victory in 1m 15.50s for owners Rich Clothier and Jennifer Gray. THUNDEROUS LOVE chased home the winner in second, while LIOSA completed the placings.

Attention then shifted to the staying contest, where the Handicap Stakes (Class 4) went the way of SUDBURY HILL. Callum Rodriguez partnered the Harry Derham-trained runner to a well-earned success for owner Mrs Samantha Dunn, with the winner recording 2m 12.36s. DOUBLE RED filled the runner-up position, while ORCHARD finished third after a consistent performance.

The penultimate contest saw the Handicap Stakes (Class 5) provide another success for Callum Rodriguez as ROSSA RAHEEN stayed on strongly to score for trainer Ollie Sangster and owner Mr J. L. Day. The winner completed the journey in 2m 41.12s, with ROYAL POETRY taking second and TRAVELING MAN finishing third.

Bringing the meeting to a close, the Handicap Stakes (Class 6) was won by IT’S LIFE, completing a training double for Kathy Turner and a riding double for Charlie Tucker. Racing in the colours of Mr E. A. Brook, the winner crossed the line in 1m 45.48s, ahead of DESERT CHARM in second and ESCAPE MAGIC in third.

Callum Rodriguez emerged as the leading jockey of the Salisbury meeting after partnering PRIDE OF TOLEDO, SUDBURY HILL and ROSSA RAHEEN to victory, completing a notable riding treble. Kathy Turner also enjoyed an excellent afternoon by saddling both RED SNAPPER and IT’S LIFE, while Clive Cox, William Haggas, Harry Derham and Ollie Sangster each recorded a winner. The programme showcased a good blend of developing runners and experienced handicappers, producing competitive finishes across all six races.
