Fresh from an impressive stakes victory, Duckduckduck will attempt to continue his rise when he lines up in Sunday’s $150,000 Lake Superior Stakes at Woodbine Racecourse. The six-furlong contest for Ontario-sired three-year-olds shares centre stage with the Thunder Bay Stakes, bringing together a strong field for one of the weekend’s featured programmes in Canadian racing.

Duckduckduck heads into the race in encouraging form after capturing the Lake Huron Stakes on June 21. Making his first appearance on turf, the gelding produced a powerful late run to win by 1¾ lengths over five furlongs in a time of 56.98 seconds, confirming the progress he has shown since returning for his three-year-old campaign.
The son of Silent Name (JPN) out of Peggy O, by Philanthropist, has steadily built an impressive record. After finishing second on debut last season, he broke his maiden in November before adding the Clarendon Stakes, where he surged home to secure a decisive victory. Those performances established him as one of the more promising Ontario-sired runners of his generation.
His return this year began with an unplaced effort on the main track, but that result was quickly put behind him with his polished display in the Lake Huron Stakes. The latest success suggested he has returned stronger and more mature, making him a leading contender for another black-type triumph.
Duckduckduck has also completed a pair of encouraging recent workouts ahead of Sunday’s assignment, including a sharp four-furlong breeze in 48.80 seconds after an earlier preparation over the same distance. The recent work indicates he approaches the race in excellent condition.
Breaking from stall six, Duckduckduck is expected to face a competitive challenge from several capable rivals. Pepper Brooks, Humormeastory, Tiho Srce, Gone With Duwyn, Quadzilla, Chanchito, Egbert Who, Wine After Whiskey, Silver Is Best, and Auntie’s Bambino all bring useful credentials into the contest, ensuring another closely fought edition of the race.
First introduced in 2021, the Lake Superior Stakes has become an important event for Ontario-sired three-year-olds, providing a valuable opportunity for emerging horses to establish themselves at stakes level. This year’s renewal again features a well-matched field, with several runners looking to add an important victory to their record.
Duckduckduck arrives with proven stakes-winning form, encouraging recent preparation and the benefit of race fitness, giving him a strong opportunity to extend his winning sequence. However, with a quality field assembled, another competitive finish is expected at Woodbine on Sunday.
