Returning to Saratoga Racecourse, a competitive nine-race programme will be staged on Thursday, 23 July, featuring a varied mix of maiden claiming, claiming, maiden special weight and allowance optional claiming contests. The afternoon will be highlighted by a $200,000 Stakes event, while races will be conducted on both dirt and turf over distances ranging from 5½ furlongs to 1 1/8 miles. The opening race will be scheduled for 1:10pm, with the final event due off at 5:49pm.

The afternoon will get underway with Race 1, a $52,000 MAIDEN CLAIMING over 7 furlongs on dirt at 1:10pm, where lightly raced runners will attempt to register a first career victory. It will be followed by Race 2, a $65,000 CLAIMING contest over 1 1/16 miles on turf at 1:44pm, offering experienced campaigners another opportunity over a middle-distance trip.

The programme will continue with Race 3, a $37,000 CLAIMING event over 7 furlongs on dirt at 2:19pm, before Race 4 stages a $130,000 ALLOWANCE OPTIONAL CLAIMING contest over 1 1/8 miles on turf at 2:54pm. With a sizeable purse and one of the day’s longest distances, the latter will stand among the strongest supporting races on the card.

The middle portion of the meeting will feature Race 5, a $90,000 MAIDEN SPECIAL WEIGHT over 5½ furlongs on turf at 3:29pm, where promising young runners will seek an important breakthrough success. Shortly afterwards, Race 6 will present a $43,000 CLAIMING sprint over 6 furlongs on dirt at 4:04pm, adding further depth to the afternoon’s dirt programme.

The spotlight will then shift to the feature event as Race 7 offers the $200,000 STAKES over 1 1/16 miles on turf at 4:39pm, the richest contest of the meeting and the day’s main attraction. The programme will conclude with Race 8, a $130,000 ALLOWANCE OPTIONAL CLAIMING over 7 furlongs on dirt at 5:14pm, before Race 9, a $56,000 MAIDEN CLAIMING over 5½ furlongs on turf at 5:49pm, brings the nine-race card to a close.

Thursday’s fixture will present a balanced blend of sprint and middle-distance racing, with competitive prize money distributed throughout the card. From developing maiden performers to accomplished runners in allowance company and the featured stakes contest, the meeting will provide quality racing across both surfaces from start to finish.
