At Uttoxeter Racecourse, a competitive seven-race jumps meeting unfolded on Wednesday, 15 July, with maiden hurdles, handicap hurdles, steeple chases and a National Hunt Flat Race featuring on the programme. Trainer Dan Skelton enjoyed a productive afternoon by saddling two winners, while Harry Skelton partnered both victories. Gavin Sheehan also recorded a riding double as the fixture produced several notable performances.
Opening the afternoon, the Mares’ Maiden Hurdle Race (Class 4) (GBB Race) was won by FINE THING, who made an impressive start under Harry Skelton for trainer Dan Skelton for owner Mr Bill Hawkins. The mare travelled strongly before asserting in the closing stages to defeat DIAMOND GRACE by 7½ lengths, while MIDNIGHT PASS finished third.
The action continued in the Jack Frost Chiller & Freezer Hire Novices’ Limited Handicap Hurdle Race (Class 5), where LADY FORTUNE delivered a convincing performance for jockey Isabelle Ryder and trainer Barry Brennan. The winner crossed the line 4¼ lengths ahead of GOLDEN CIRCET, with KARTHALA taking third.
Attention then turned to the Bravo Benefits Celebrations Novices’ Limited Handicap Steeple Chase (Class 3) (GBB Race), where SUNRAY SHADOW completed Dan Skelton’s training double. Ridden by Harry Skelton for S T Racing – The Founders’ Syndicate, the winner defeated SAMUEL SPADE by four lengths, while SONY BILL filled third place.
A closely fought contest followed in the Handicap Hurdle Race (Class 4), as KING ULANDA, partnered by Jack Tudor for trainers Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero, edged MACHETE BEACH by a neck. AN BRADAN FEASA completed the first three.
The staying chasers then took centre stage in the Alfie Flatt 18th Birthday Celebration Handicap Steeple Chase (Class 4), where PEP TALKING produced a determined display under Gavin Sheehan for trainer Billy Aprahamian. The winner finished three lengths clear of MY FRIEND SEAN, while LE GENTLEMAN claimed third.
Later on the card, the Summer Jumps Championship Mares’ Handicap Hurdle Race (Class 5) went to BELLADINOTTE, who gave trainer Sara Ender and jockey Harry Bannister a deserved success. THEIRSHEGOES finished 1½ lengths behind in second, with CAMSHAFT taking third.
Bringing the meeting to a close, the Open National Hunt Flat Race (Class 5) (GBB Race) saw THE ELUSIVE PIKE provide Gavin Sheehan with his second winner of the afternoon. Trained by Jamie Snowden for Value Racing – The Elusive Pike, the winner scored by 1½ lengths from REDBARN, while DOWNTOWN NASHVILLE completed the placings.
Dan Skelton emerged as the standout trainer after Fine Thing and Sunray Shadow secured a stable double, while Harry Skelton partnered both winners to complete a successful afternoon in the saddle. Gavin Sheehan also celebrated a riding double through Pep Talking and The Elusive Pike, ensuring the meeting featured several notable individual performances.
The Uttoxeter Race Results 15 July showcased seven competitive contests, with Dan Skelton’s training double standing out as the headline achievement.
