The staying contest of the afternoon, The Chevalier Cup, over 1800 metres for Class III horses rated 40 to 65, provided Ankit Pal with his second success of the meeting. Natural Diamond, prepared by Mansoor Khan for owner Mr Raja Malhotra, travelled strongly before drawing clear to register victory in 1:50.429. Worldly Wise (S. Imran/J. Ganesh) chased the winner home in second, with Chief Admiral (Aleemuddin/B. Suresh) only a fraction behind in third after a closely matched finish.
The spotlight then shifted to the afternoon’s feature, The Whitefield Plate, a 1400-metre Class II contest for horses rated 60 and above.
